SATURDAY IS PHOBLOG DAY!

Today, the rain has stopped… so it is a major grooming day!

HERE WE GO!

I think this is a great idea… turning defunct malls into old peoples’ homes… Add the barber, pharmacy, hairdresser and doctors… and it is a lovely place.

Seems to be some truth to this, but I don’t know… most of mine have unfortunate whorls and I still love them all.

That dolphin must wonder what he’s seeing… so surreal for him and for us.

I love this.

This is probably AI, but I really find it peaceful. I’m going to have to remember that color of cabin in the woods. I like it with the black fencing… and of course, the lake…

Kids these days… (East of Equinox yearlings)

TWINS!! They look so different, and healthy. Good going, Mom!

Interesting. I figure there is a bathroom in there somewhere.

What a sweet concept… a hay bale concert…

I love that someone thought to do this with a big stump or leftover wood… whichever, it is very cool.

That girl has skills.

A great use of a small (but tall) space.

The little town of Stanley Idaho and the Sawtooth Mountains as seen from the Salmon River. Idyllic to me…

Look at him showing us his perfect feet.

KEEP THEM OFF THE TRUCK FUND.

The Horse and Man Foundation, Inc  KEEP THEM OFF THE TRUCK FUND  is different from the monthly Drop in the Bucket Fund – which is earmarked for a specific horse in dire need each month.  The Drop in the Bucket Fund has garnered and donated over a million dollars for horses in need!  Thank you!

The KEEP THEM OFF THE TRUCK FUND will go on all day, all the time. It will always be here.  Slaughter bound horses are in dire need daily in the US.  The pipeline is real.  If you want to save a horse or donkey from slaughter, know that this fund exclusively goes towards slaughter bound horses.  If you donate (through this link) to the KEEP THEM OFF THE TRUCK FUND, all donations will be used on the next save.  All of it, every cent.

We must agree to disagree… yes, I hear you. I also had to look into finding an outside home for my mother. The options were horrible and expensive. For those who do not have the money or mobility to find the beautiful communities for the elders, this is a very viable and helpful option. Most of these malls do have lovely, ground level outdoor areas where they can stroll lunch in the parklike setting – as part of the options. All the outdoor manicuring has already been prepped and the irrigation installed when the mall was built. So, yes, it isn’t ideal, but for those who are less fortunate, these malls have all their needs in one place, which is very helpful. –And, what you might not have seen lately, malls are also being updated for apartments for city dwellers – not the elderly. These apartments are very successful. True, the front of the apartments face an open mall, but they have windows and skylights… which is a benefit of the top floor.

Oh, my. Dawn. Seeing the “repurposed for ‘old’ people mall” was not only unpleasant – but even shudder-worthy. I know you meant well. But for most ‘old’ people to live in such a sterile, Stepford-style environment? Really? Think for a moment about this: would you choose to live in only HVAC-produced recirculated stale air? Would you miss the scent of breeze through trees or drifting inland from the ocean? The deeply stirring fragrance of freshly mowed grass, the competing odors of newly blooming flowers and shrubs? The pleasing variety of what’s underfoot — and I am not speaking of surfaces designed for heavy foot traffic but painted to look “natural.” Would you not miss the spirit-lifting sight of a clear sky –or its myriad cloud formations bringing the hint of rain? How many “old” people do you know would would choose to live in an arrangement devoid of all nature? I volunteer in senior issues and can tell you that not a single one I know would ever choose to live like that. The internet content originator of that reposted generative AI image is revealing themself to be one of the legion of those who would shut away, for good, all those whose age is past retirement.
