Today, we are having some of our downed trees removed (cut up). Losing trees makes me so sad…
HERE WE GO!

Do you remember Gillian, who trained Dalton and Annie? She rode the Pass of Tears in Patagonia last month!

The ride organizers in Argentina, give the vetted riders two local horses each. So the riders are doing an extreme ride, with new horses, that they need to keep safe and healthy. 150 miles. Gillian said it was the most difficult ride she has ever endured, but it was quite the experience… I bet!!

This is Gillian after the final ride of the Pass of Tears. She looks cold, exhausted, happy and humble.

I looked at this and it brought me back to my childhood… We lived a few blocks from this stretch of the Pacific Ocean. We rode our bikes on Sloat Blvd all the time. The interesting thing is that we NEVER thought of the beach as a beach. It was always dangerous. Nobody ever walked along it or went there to reflect. –When I saw this pic I thought to myself that the ocean looks so inviting… and then I remembered how it really was. Dangerous.

Thank you for posting about Gillian participating in this incredible race. It might be termed a race but it is so much more about incredibly good horsemanship (horsewomanship). Found the official race website, and it has many photos of the location in Patagonia, just took my breath away. Plus the website has even more information about this breed of horses and the history there, plus a map and links to some participants’ stories and from one member of the veterinary team. Hopefully if this inaugural event returns again there will be a team making a documentary about it!
