Last year, Hubby took me on an “I’m always out of town so let’s go on a trip together just you and me using my rewards miles” vacation to Austin, TX.
We had a great time!
While there, we had heard about the great wines in Fredericksburg. Being from California, we were very familiar with wine tasting and thought it would be fun to try Texas wines from the ‘hill country’ of Texas.
(As an aside, the hill country of Texas is very beautiful, but not really very hilly… kinda hilly… “moundish” would fit better.)
Since we arrived rather late, our wine tour options were limited… But, the galleries were open! I was excited and Hubby was groaning… I am always dragging Hubby into art galleries – totally against his will.
NEW FUN FIND: GLENN LYLES!
I knew that one of my favorite artists, Teresa Elliott, showed in a gallery there. So, when I saw that marquee, I pulled Hubby even faster!
Unfortunately, the gallery had only one of Teresa’s pieces left. Figures. But, it was a thrill to see it anyway…
Of course, that left us plenty of time to walk around and view other galleries (me cajoling Hubby and promising beer).
And that was when I stumbled upon The Fredericksburg Gallery.
Why did I stumble upon it?
Because in the front window were these adorable, smallish cow faces on tiny canvases. Adorable! Perfectly sized for all of those areas where regular art won’t fit. Like on my desk…
My favorite were the tryptychs. Three sweet, different and engaging little cow faces.
They had doubles, too… and singles.
I had to go in.

This is Glenn Lyles. He is famous for his larger cow oil paintings… but I am very pleased that he created little cow painting for those of us on a budget.
ONCE INSIDE…
Once inside, I had the lovely store owner pull all the tiny cow canvases up to the front counter so I could muse over them and decide on which one I wanted (They were affordable! The best part!)
Unfortunately, Hubby heard a beer calling and wanted to get outta there before he had to buy a cow face for me.
So, we left.
BUT… I CALLED THEM..
I couldn’t get the little cow faces off my mind so I called the gallery and they sent a photo of the remaining cow faces. I circled the one I wanted and they sent it to me!
Now it sits on my desk and I admire it every day!
This morning, I was admiring it again and I thought I would tell you all about Glenn and the mini works of art that delight me daily! Mine is 5″ x 7″!

This is the photo the gallery sent to me a year ago. You can see I circled the one I wanted and it arrived safe and sound! (No affiliation) I did ponder the one with the hay in its mouth. I liked that one, too! Actually, I liked them all.
HERE ARE THE COW FACES AVAILABLE TODAY! (No affiliation – I wish…)

These are the Glenn Lyles small cow faces that are AVAILABLE NOW! I asked the gallery if they had any available since I knew I was writing about Glenn and they sent this over TODAY! (No affiliation)
