So during the first day of California Lock Down (again) 2020, I spent some time walking around my house.
And to my surprise… the citrus trees are going crazy with fruit! My itty bitty, tiny little trees, are fruiting! I feel like a proud parent! I didn’t notice the fruit earlier because it was green and matched the dense leaves, but today… they are turning colors!
The orange tree always fruits so that was not surprising. The orange tree was here when we arrived. The other trees I planted 3 years ago. I was told that citrus wouldn’t grow here… but because they are near the house (warmth), I think that is why they are happy.
And, of course, all of the nutrients and worm vermicompost that I get from Black Diamond (she ships) really, really, really helps all of my plants/trees.
So, here are a few pics of my trees and their budding fruit!
First though, to set the scene, here is a pic of that side of the house from the listing when we purchased in 2016. I have an arrow on the original orange tree. Nothing else was planted on that side of the house.
There are now 3 citrus trees lining that side of the house. These pics were taken today, in the dead of winter, so it makes sense that most of the leaves are not bright green anymore. You can really see the grapefruit coming alive here!
Here is the Orange tree with new fruit turning orange – up close.
Here is the mandarin tree (the one in the middle)! For the first time, it has fruit!
And the grapefruit tree has fruit!! I couldn’t see them before because the fruit was green and hidden in all the leaves. But now they are turning yellow and showing themselves!
I’m very excited about this discovery today!
BUT IF THAT DIDN’T EXCITE YOU, HERE IS A VIDEO OF A BABY CHAMELEON DRINKING AND WASHING.
Drinking and bathing time for this baby chameleon… the video made me smile so I’m passing it onto you in case any of you are in LOCKDOWN (again).
