What a surprise to find in my mailbox today!!
Do you remember Hope? She was our Bucket Fund filly for October of 2011. Poor Hope was going to be put down because she had horribly knocked knees at birth. Hope was rescued by Alder Hill Farms. Once safe, The Horse and Man Group helped raise money for her surgery…
Here is her story. Here is the surgery story. Here is the last update we had…
HERE ARE MORE PICS FROM THE ORIGINAL STORY- AMAZING…
There was an audible gasp when I first saw these photos… amazing, eh? It looked baaad.
I remember how her Rescuers thought she was very loving – they felt compelled to try to help her because she was such a dear little filly.

This was taken at the hospital before surgery 2 years ago.

This was taken after her first surgery.

This was pre-op in the hospital.

Post Op. One leg didn’t take the first time so they had to go back and repair it.

After the first surgery
WELL…. LOOKEY WHAT SHOWED UP IN MY MAILBOX!! – HOPE 2 YEARS LATER!
Hope was adopted in February of this year! She has a lovely living arrangement and is still a sweetheart.
As you can see, her legs healed just fine!
Nice to see this, eh? Nice to know that this can be done!
I will get more info on Hope and let you know more as I receive it.
Yay!!!!

She is now 2 years old and you would never know it was the same – disfigured filly!

Yes, the left knee is a bit misshapen… but it doesn’t hold her back at all, I’m told.

Same face.

Nap time.

Going out to pasture… looking totally normal. Yay!
i love happy endings!!!
HORSE AND MAN is a blog in growth… if you like this, please pass it around!

Wow what a ghastly gruesome start this filly had. And they were able to do surgery? Wow! She looks amazing. So her left knee looks like mine. No my knee doesn’t work as well as it did. But I get around. Someday someone will have to watch her for arthritis. But all of that is down the road.
She now has a huge chance for a long happy life either as a pasture ornament or a riding friend. If she were mine–shed just have to learn ground manners–since I don’t ride anymore. We could go for walks together and talk. Just horse and human friends.
OH MY! What a difference! This was a wonderful story to start my day! HOPE…there is ALWAYS HOPE!
All I can say is, ”God Bless” to those who made it possible to save this little sweetheart’s life.
That just made my day!! T hank you for all you do, and for the updates!
