OK, I never, ever thought I’d be talking about socks on this blog. I mean, do you think much about your socks?
You see, I’m one of those people who has never really shopped for socks. I mean, I have gone to REI to get ski socks… but I don’t really shop for socks.
Oh sure, I’m like everyone else… I have an overstuffed sock drawer full of socks, but I probably only bought a few sport pairs in there.
Usually, I get several pair for Xmas and I’m good.
…I do always have tube socks around (Costco) in case anyone needs a pair…
But, functional, comfortable socks have never been on my radar.
THEN ALONG CAME THE XTREMESOFT BOOT SOCK!
I received a package from a new Equine Outfitter, NOBLE OUTFITTER. They asked if I would be so kind as to accept a gift of socks… and if I liked them, to review them.
I can do this.
So, I put them on.
Immediately, I swear to HorseGods, the sock hugged my foot with just the right pressure. I felt like I was getting a foot acupressure treatment!
I’d never had a sock that had a waist.
And, yes, they were very soft.
So, I actually looked at my new pair of socks.
They had lighter material where the foot needs extra space. The toe was reinforced. The ankle part and over the top was very cushy and the top band was thick enough to hug but not pinch.
I was actually happy with my socks! Such an odd feeling for me – a gal who has never thought about her socks.
I was liking these… shock!
OK, this is going to sound hokey, but I liked them so much (and the weather is cold/wet here), I actually wore them every day for a week. Yes, I threw them in daily with whatever was being washed – on purpose – to see how they held up.
Honestly, I LOVE these socks.
I can wear them in my boots and also my slippers! No need to change my socks when I go outside or come inside. They fit both without being too fat or too thin.
My Muck Boots are a few years old and rather rough on the inside, so I did scuff up these new socks in the heel area. But, I will keep wearing them until I wear them out because they are reasonable at $11.99 per pair. Which may seem like a lot for one pair… but not to me now that I’ve had them on.
I can really tell the difference and I had to slap myself in the forehead for never considering my poor feet!
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wished my feet weren’t so hot… or that my winter socks weren’t so fat… or that my arch felt fat and stuffed into a hiking boot…
Huh. Where the heck have I been?
SO I WENT TO THE WEBSITE…
WOW! It kinda looks like ATHLETA meets GOODE RIDER!
…Very hip/fit to a woman (like Athleta) yet athletic and pretty equestrian wear (like Goode Rider)!
I was impressed. And, they cater to both English and Western. Not a huge selection of everything, but a nice selection of what you really need/want.
BOOTS/GLOVES – other stuff
I am now coveting new Muck Boots (for obvious reasons) and some hay gloves. I’d like hay gloves that really work – where you can feel what you are feeding in the cold yet protect your hands.
They also had a grooming bag that has a mesh bottom so it could be dunked in water to clean it out while it is totally loaded. Love that!
Also, they had peddie socks in a ton of colors. If I was a kid at a barn with other riders, I’d get those, for sure! It is like foot jewelry!
So, I’m surprised to say, I really liked these socks!
Whoda thunk it?
