We helped another one!

A few years ago, I produced a documentary for Jaime Baldanza called, Wild Lands Wild Horses.

From what Jaime learned during this film making process, she decided to do her best to change the fate of the wild horse.

I totally understood and understand.

Over the next few years, Jaime has worked to create her own 501c3. And, her first save was last week. Jaime’s fund raising campaign went very well!

The Horse and Man Foundation Group helped with a small but earnest donation.

CLOVER’S STORY

There’s this beautiful place in southwestern Utah, nestled in the Mountain Home Range. Deb and I were there from August 14th – August 19th, 2020, scouting for Wild Lands Wild Horses docuseries and to witness firsthand what it is like for a wild horse to be captured with a helicopter. This place is called Sulphur Herd Management Area (HMA) and it even has its own designation in the Utah Gazetteer on plates 64 and 72.
Jump to April 14th, exactly one year and eight months later, I was sitting across from Clare at Skydog Sanctuary, when Clare received a message with a post about a mustang mare named Clover who was in dire straits along with a Shetland pony. Clare was debating what to do, but was worried about the long haul from Florida to Oregon and the toll it might take on little Miss Clover. Sitting there, I (Jamie) asked to see her picture. My eyes immediately welled up with tears and without hesitation said she can come to New Jersey (NJ), to give her a chance for a successful recovery without the stressful haul across America.
As more information revealed itself, Clover was born in 2019 on the Sulphur HMA, and was gathered with eighteen other horses on August 16th, 2020. Clover was then put up for adoption in 2021, and was adopted and her journey then took her to southern Florida.
Here her story goes haywire and pieces are still missing, because Clover and a Shetland pony were found roaming in southern Florida, emaciated, with no one caring for them. After someone reported seeing them, the South Florida SPCA Horse Rescue (Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), after walking miles through fields and muck, were able to capture Clover and the Shetland pony, and begin providing the medical attention and nutrition they need.
Clover will be the first official sanctuary resident for Wild Lands Wild Horses Fund in collaboration with Clare from Skydog Sanctuary! Clare’s experience, help, encouragement and guidance is paramount in bringing our first official sanctuary resident to NJ.
Will you help us; help Clover on her quest to her safe place? A place to recover, grow, learn to trust and be loved, and connect with a new forever herd? Your help is also paramount to her successful story!
Clover will be under the care of the SPCA until May 27th, when she will begin her trip to New Jersey. This will allow Clover time to gain strength, be treated for lice and worms, and be gentled to a point she is not posing a risk of harm to herself and the humans caring for her, as the SPCA states she has not been handled. Clover can already be approached without using a catch rope, speaking volumes to her ability to forgive humans and trust.
Funds raised will be used to offset some of her care at SPCA, her transportation by a professional hauler to New Jersey, ongoing vet support when she arrives, feed, farrier, and any other unforeseen costs due to her emaciated condition.
We will be forever grateful for any contribution and if you are not able to contribute financially, prayers and shares go a long way to a successful outcome!
