We’ve started to help and we can do more!
I reached out to my personal friends and readers who were in the path of Hurricane Helene – or those who are nearby,
I asked for the most active equine helpers – and we found two in North Carolina: Red Feather Equine Sanctuary and Mountain Mule Packer Ranch.
Red Feather is coordinating rescues and transportation to safe holding areas. Mountain Mule Packers is bringing supplies to those whose roads have been washed out.
I’ve watched several FB posts from Red Feathers, giving instructions and updates… and I’ve seen the mules in the news.

Mules bringing ice for this man’s insulin… (I took this from a video which is why it is not as clear.)

ABOUT THESE PEOPLE WHO ARE HELPING!
Today, some friends and readers on the East Coast sent to me first hand accounts of the devastation of Hurricane Helene.
Not only was this news upsetting, and the death/missing count so distressing… it feels like, to the residents, that help is not getting to them fast enough.
If the humans weren’t being helped fast enough, the animals weren’t either. I had to research WHO was helping the animals… if anyone.
You see, I totally remember how horrible flood waters are on equine coats – from our experience with the floods in Houston a few years ago. Getting them out of the floodwaters is the first step… but cleaning/disinfecting/healing them from the horribly caustic waters is a long road. Time is of the essence.
Here is the post about how they are helping!
THE BUCKET FUND IS OPEN TO RECEIVE AND SEND THEM MORE AS WE COLLECT. ALL IT TAKES IS A DROP IN THE BUCKET AND SOON IT OVERFLOWS!
All donations are 100% tax deductible! Thank you in advance!

The funds we sent to Mountain Mule Packers is going towards these guys… not anything else. It is going to support the equine workers.
