I found this awesome site, ALL BREED PEDIGREE, that shows the pedigree of all horses registered with them – as well as the photos associated with the sires (if available).
Wow!!
I am such a sucker for genetics… I loooved researching sire/dam lines when I was breeding Tess. So, for me, this site is like the best candy ever!
For today, I had chosen my first filly, Flaire’s Gwendolyn, and I was going to show you her photo lines which (of course) I thought was fascinating. I could not get enough of the characteristics of each sire or dam’s sire and the thought that went into each breeding. Also, there are a few identical sires on both sides – yet they are far apart – which I found very interesting as well.
I had all the photos cropped and ready to go…
But then I figured none of you would really care about my mare.
…Kinda like pulling out my wallet and showing you endless photos of my puppies which means just about nothing after the first 5 or so cute pics…
I figured it would make much more sense to show you a famous horse’s lines.
So, here is Secretariat’s Family Tree!
