Today was an interesting and fun day… as I sit on my cushy matress, typing to you, I can hear all the merrymakers having fun after dinner. It is still light out. Hubby came in a minute ago and grabbed his bottle of bourbon, so I think he might be sitting around the fire telling war stories – literally – with the other men here.

This photo is from yesterday. It is our friend Adam and his horse Joe. (That is me in the background – oddly enough.)
TODAY!
Today I woke up feeling Limey (I have Lyme Disease. Mostly I manage it through diet, sleep and stress moderation – but sometimes it rears its ugly head.) I think the last few months of moving, etc. has taken its toll. I told Hubby that I was not feeling very well so we decided to do only one ride and take a nap in the afternoon.
Our morning ride was GLORIOUS. It was so glorious that I forgot to take many photos! Mostly it was single track trails through the forests of Teton National Park. Beautiful. We were shaded and the forest was cool. It didn’t occur to me to take photos until after we were out! Drat!
My horse, Petunia, was much more lively today. She had new shoes put on last night so I’m thinking she was feeling lighter.
Hubby said that his horse, Cochise, was more calm today. Hubby loves Cochise – which is interesting because he was very upset that he didn’t get Rosie from the previous years. But, after riding Cochise, he prefers the huge draft cross. They are always at the front of the pack… Cochise is energetic and, according to Hubby, has lovely gaits.

I was in the rear … here we are just coming over the water bridge into a huge meadow. Hubby is on the big Paint, Cochise.
NAPTIME
After (a delicious) lunch, we had naptime. Hubby read and I slept. Afterwards, I felt a bit more refreshed but not hunkydory. We decided to go into Jackson to purchase a few sporting undergarments when I felt my face get really hot and lumpy. Allergies struck! I’m allergic to bulbs (onions, garlic…) and I had onion soup at lunch. Why I did that, I have no idea. I knew it was onion soup but I went ahead and ate it anyway. “Gee, I’m on vacation, maybe my allergies are, too…”. Wrong.
But, the reaction wasn’t too bad. It only made me red, lumpy and sleepy…
So, after a great (garlic free) Italian dinner (with tiramisu dessert!), I came back to the room to rest and blog. I’ll probably sleep as soon as we are done here. I want to be fresh in the morning because it is PICTURE DAY. Saying that reminds me of grammar school. Anyway, I cannot be all blotchy and sleepy, so I need to lay low and take care tonight!

I totally forgot to take any photos when we were on the single track trails through the Teton National Park (forehead slap). But, this is pretty wonderful, too!
MORE PHOTOS!
A TIDBIT about the ranch… So I love my horse, Petunia, but I’m having gear issues with the saddle. After shortening and lengthening the stirrups, I asked about changing it out. The Wrangler told me that they generally give guests the same saddle that they have had in previous years… so if it didn’t bother me last year, it is curious why it bothers me this year… I asked them to check to make sure I’d had this saddle previously. They did. I had. So we concluded that my fabulous new sheepie is too thick and throws off my leg and seat. Tomorrow we will try the saddle without the sheepie and see how it feels. And, if after that I still want to change out the saddle, I can.
Anyway, a nice tidbit on how the R Lazy S takes care of their guests…

Hubby wanted me to take a photo of him on Cochise but we were already back at camp so all Cochise wanted to do was go in and rest/eat/buddy up with his friends. Not a good shot, really.

Another failed Barnie but I giggled when I saw it and thought you might, too. It looks like I’m hiding under her face or something. My arms are too short for Barnies…
