MAMA TESS IS DOING WELL!

The Founder Warrior and her trusty assistant (Mark) came on Tuesday.  They hadn’t seen Tess’ hoof since the partial resection Dr. Errico performed when MT went back into the hospital two weeks ago to remove the hospital plate that was irritating her after her coffin bone surgery.

The hoof is a bit shocking the first time you see it…

This is the area that Dr. Errico removed to make sure there was no necrotic tissue that could cause any more infection to her coffin bone.

This is the underside. Note: Her sole looks like a regular foot - almost - except for the gaping hole... For the first time, I had someone there to hold the hoof so I could get a good pic. However, it still isn't the same as being here because the hole has shadows here - but in reality, it is deep and very interesting.

I put in an arrow to try to point out the sensitive tissue that is healing and growing inside the capsule. This is the area that I am trying to keep very clean.

TRIMMINGS ALL AROUND!

The Founder Warrior and Mark worked as a tag team.  Cindy (Founder Warrior) worked on the right front and Mark worked on the rears.

But, it was all up to MT – which was so refreshing and wonderful!

Whichever foot she picked up and was ready to hold, they would trim.  They would stop when she needed a break.

And MT was a Rockstar, as far as I was concerned.  She stood there and handed over her feet as she saw fit.  She knew she needed to do this, but she did it on her terms.  MT was a Champ!

We got both rears trimmed and much of the right front.

Tess had huge sole growth – again – and her walls are growing down at a healthy rate.  Her feet are actually starting to look normal and healthy!  Thank you Theraplate and Enzion Hoof Care Supplement!

However, while carving the right front, we found a pocket of fluid (not an abscess).  This is not unusual when there has been bruising.  But, as a precaution, we went easy after opening it up.  And, I wrapped the right front – just in case.

Mark worked on her rears… everything was done on her terms. She offered when she was ready and she took away when she was tired. It all worked. MT was a Rock Star!

Freshly trimmed rears.

MT IS HAPPY!

Today, MT was sore, but happy.  She walked by putting one foot in front of the other – no founder stance nor unweighting.

Yay!

Her ears are forward and she is engaged.  She isn’t quite back to following me around like a shadow, but she is getting around very well.

Lovely to watch…

I kept her head busy by feeding her... while they worked the feet.

KOPPERTOX

Many of you are asking why in the world am I’m using Bleach and Koppertox?!

Well, I agree.  I wish I wasn’t.

But, after going through all of this and spending so much money on this surgery and the aftercare, I don’t want to blow it.  I’m doing what I’m told.

However, I did purchase EquiSilver on a recommendation from Cornell.  I will try it for a day or so and see how she feels.

I know I would feel better if I never saw, smelled or touched Koppertox again.

But, if it kills any and all bacteria during this tenuous time, I guess I’m thankful.

Still, I get it and agree and wish I wasn’t using it…
