REPOSTED FROM SKYDOG

SO for another time I am posting this information for anyone who is moved by his beauty to pick up the phone and stand up for him and all the other wild horses we love.

The markup on the Department of Interior/BLM budget in the Senate Appropriations Committee has been postponed several times but we cannot stop calling Committee members to say US taxpayers do NOT want money spent on killing, euthanizing or unlimited sales of healthy wild horses and burros in holding or on the range.

Call any of these senators and you will probably be leaving a message to an assistant or on a machine and you can simply say :

“I strongly urge you to maintain protections for Wild Horses and Burros and oppose any action that would allow for the euthanizing, killing or slaughter of America’s wild horses. Thank you.”

I know you might have done it before but we cannot call too many times, and if you have never done it before – I promise its not scary – it is a three minute call to make your views heard to your Government. Politicians are elected to serve us and it is so important to make your voices heard and let them know how you feel about their votes on certain issues. They know that their jobs depend on keeping their constituents happy and reflecting their wishes so let’s all tell them how we feel about their management of our mustangs.

This is a full list of senators sitting on that Committee who will decide the fates of our mustangs………..

October 23, 2017

As you know by now, the Senate Appropriations Committee has again delayed markup hearings for  Fiscal Year 2018 Interior appropriations legislation. The markups are tentatively scheduled for the week of October 30th, although there is still a lot of uncertainty in the schedule.

This means we have more time to keep up the pressure.

We are heavily focused on ensuring that the Senate hears your voices demanding continued protections for wild horses and burros. We’re working hard to to stop narrow special interests from successfully overriding the judgment of 80% of Americans who believe that killing wild horses and burros is unacceptable.

This week, thanks to your support, we have launched a series of online ads targeted at Capitol Hill using this video. This is in addition to our billboards in Salt Lake City, Phoenix and Las Vegas, the television ads targeting key Representatives in NevadaVirginia, Oklahoma and California, and the commercial aimed at Senator Murkowski which resulted in at least 100 constituent calls to her Anchorage office.

With potentially only a week left, your calls and emails are literally the backstop against the heavy-handed lobbying efforts of pro-slaughter forces.

The enemies of our magnificent wild horses are organized and powerful. Make no mistake, however. They can be defeated by the power of the people … but only if we continue the fight and make sure our voices heard. Please keep up the pressure!

1) Click here to look up your Senators’ phone numbers. You can tell them: I strongly urge you to maintain protections for Wild Horses and Burros — and oppose any effort that would allow for the euthanizing, killing or slaughter of America’s wild horses. I am part of the 80% who opposes slaughter.

2) After you call, you can send an email to your Senators on the same web-page.

3) Pressure them on social media.

If you only have Facebook, search for your Senators Facebook pages, and leave a comment in a recent post. Tell them: I am with the 80% of Americans who say #NoHorseSlaughter. Maintain protections from killing and slaughter for America’s wild horses.

Our wild horses and burros are worth the effort, so please take just a moment to act on their behalf today. We’ll keep you posted.

But let’s end this by focusing back on a bunch of horses that are living their lives as they should, worry free, well fed, loved and happy. Here by popular demand is Jackson (and his mares) x

I have contacted all on this list. I sure hope it makes a difference. Thank you for keeping us updated and by helping to spread the word.

Hannah, you are def. living in LaLa land. There is big money in wild horse meat because they have not injested drugs like their domestic counter parts. They are our horses, they do not belong to the criminals in the BLM.

Hannah, this is definitely not a hoax….in fact the National Wild Horse and Burro Advisory board repeatedly referenced a proposal made by a private party to have American taxpayers pay to ship upwards of 20,000 wild horses to Russia—where they would serve as prey animals for big cats. Also, in September of 2016 the advisory board recommended destroying captive horses (shooting), and a few years ago secret communications from within the BLM were discovered where they spoke about shooting all horses in captivity, and what kind of counseling the employees who were charged with doing so would need to deal with this heinous act. The reason this is being taken so very seriously is in July, the House Appropriations Committee voted to adopt language, in the 2018 budget, known as the Stewart Amendment, allowing for the sale of wild horses and burros “without limitation,” which means slaughter. Also, there are more horse-slaughter proponents in positions of power in this administration than ever before, including two cabinet members — Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke and Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue. There are ongoing campaigns that are being held to try to protect our wild horses and burros, but every voice counts, even voice mails are being counted and recorded. As someone who is part of an organized wild horse and burro advocacy group, I can tell you that viable ideas are being proposed by our group and others, and we are getting positive feedback when taking the time to call the different Senators office. Everyone who loves our wild horses and burros needs to make their voice heard.

Please continue to fight for their lives. They deserve to live free!

Thank you so much for posting this Dawn! Things are truly dire for our wild horses and burros and we need everyone to speak up for them. I thought it was worth mentioning that if folks are reluctant to speak to a live person, they can call after hours with the same information….each call, even if it’s a voice mail, goes on record. Very easy to do!

This is a ridiculous hoax. We all know the mustangs are not going to be sent to Russia to be to be big cat prey, and they are also not going to be shot. I believe “humanely euthanized” were the words of the actual bill. Unlike the authors of the article on the top of this post, lawmakers and billpassers do not think recklessly; they carefully plan and discuss pros and cons and then it has to go through many tiers of government before it is passed.
I love mustangs, and am extremely concerned about their plight, but if we lose our marbles and start hitting senators with articles like the one in this post, we are not going to be taken seriously. We need a campaign that will actually hold water.
