Saturday is PhoBlog Day! Donkeys, Drive-Up Windows, Good Little Icys and Blind Love…

Saturday is PhoBlog Day!  Today, I have several fun pics and a story…

1)  This is my neighbor and friend, Fran.  Her other good friend, Stella, is sleeping on her head.  I hope one day to get Stella over here for a playdate with my Norma.  Unfortunately, even though we only live minutes apart, both of our donks HATE the trailer.  So, it may never happen.  But, I wish it would…

2)  This photo cracks me up.  It is of Gabe the Wonder Horse (link here), who I wrote about a while ago, and his sidekick Topper.  Since it is now Summer again, the Drive-Up window is open!  Yup, their Mommy started this activity last year and both the horses took to it like ducks to water.  But, during winter, the window was closed.  Boo Hoo.  But, Yippee because Mommy has opened the Drive-Thru!  Now she can have horsey nose marks all over her window and hair mixed drool on her washing machine!  The things we do…  ;)

3)  You  met Tamara Gooch and her photography this week.  I loved this shot and wanted to add it  here.

4)  I wish my Icy filly would just follow along on a trail ride like these Icys.  Hmmmm.  I am delighted to see such a fun way to exercise the kids without having to ride them all.  Look Ma, No Hands (or lead ropes!).

5)  Finally, a lovely story…  This woman, Joanne Feldman, lives in So Cal.  She has had this horse, Chocolate Rose, for 23 years.  About 10 years ago, Rose lost one eye.  No Worries.  However, two years ago, Rose lost the other…

I caught a newspaper story of the pair.  Joanne visits Rose twice a day, every day!  She cleans her stall, feeds/brushes her, takes her for walks and (I love this) sweeps the cobwebs off of Rose’s nameplate.  You should read the story.  It is very touching.  Joanne lives alone and has very little money.  Their love for each other is total.  Enjoy the article!

Great pics and a heartwarming story. I was a little sad to see comments on the original article site suggesting the horse should have been destroyed. Idiots abound! I’ve seen totally blind horses trail-ridden. It’s about trust and love and a willingness to work with imperfection.

Joanne is my kind of woman!! Loved the pic of the donkey sleeping.
