HERE WE GO!

I went to an auction Saturday. My daughter spotted this standard gelding standing in a stall waiting to be sold. She went in with him and was loving him up the donkey had all of his attention on her. She spent like an hour in his stall hugging him and talking to him. Some man stopped by and said he couldn’t believe that was the same Donk he saw earlier. He said it was hee hawing and taking a fit. I told Airica we had to go that the bidding was going to start and I wanted to get a seat. She had big tears in her eyes and said ” mom, I’ve got to have him. I have $80 of my birthday money.” She whispered to the donkey “I’ll be back”, hugged him and left the stall with tears running down her face. We went out and got seats and waited for the sale to start. She was looking at the floor looking so sad. When he came in the ring I got my bidding card and put it in her hand. She was shocked and got all excited. I told her to bid on him. She held that card high until the bidding was over. She bought herself a donkey. The audience clapped and cheered when she won the bid. After the sale we went back to get him and when he saw Airica his ears perked up. And he belted out a big hee haw like he remembered her. He got all antsy wanting out of the stall. He was a whole lot more than $80 but she doesn’t need to know that. Turns out he is a trail riding donkey someone outgrew. He is a fantastic animal. 11 yrs old and gelded. This girl is in love with her donkey. He is waiting at the gate for her when she comes outside in the morning and always greets her with a big hee haw. I took these pics before the sale when she was in the stall. She was so sad. His name is Frozen. He came with the name but it also happens to be the name of her favorite movie.

Love your blog. I grew up with horses but don’t have the lifestyle for it now. Reading your posts makes me feel a tiny bit connected to them again. Thanks for taking the time to publish!
