Yippee-ki-yay!! Lookey where I am! Hubby is the BEST!

Hooray for Hubby!

Two years ago, I ended up at the RLazyS Ranch by happenstance.  I had a ticket to Wyoming and a rental car – readying to take me on the Outlaw Ride (Butch Cassidy’s trail) and at the last minute it was cancelled.

So, I had a non-refundable plane ticket and a non-refundable rental car, but no where to go.  Yikes!  I got on the internet and within 72 hours of searching vigorously, the RLazyS had space for me.  (Most guest ranches I researched would not take singles.)  I was elated!  I had no point of reference other than what Yelp! said, but I did read that they had an 80% return rate.

After my stay, I knew why… Awesome!

Then last year, Hubby – begrudgingly – came with me.  He thought it would be nice to spend time together but he figured he wouldn’t ride.  He’d probably hike or mountain climb or bike ride in Jackson.

Funny how these things go… he never even left the ranch!  He rode every day and looovved it.

And this year, he is treating us both with a return visit!

ROADTRIP!

After loads of getting things ready back home for the house sitter and horse sitters (and work…), we set out yesterday from Grass Valley, CA to Jackson Wyoming – about 14 hours drive.

Our neighbors came with us last year and they, too, are returning this year.  They left yesterday as well, but beat us to Salt Lake City (our stopping point) because they have a very fast car.

Today, since Hubby grew up in SLC, he drove me around to all of his old neighborhoods, schools, coffee shops, etc… He kept exclaiming, “Oh, that is so different” and “That wasn’t there before…” and “Where did the Coffee Cave go?!”  I just smiled the whole time.  He was so full of nostalgia and peace.

…But all those memory lanes made us a few hours behind our friends to arrive at the R Lazy S…

The horse barns.

WE’RE HERE!

There are not too many places as glorious and majestic as Jackson, Wyoming, in my opinion.  Every time I come here, I am in awe of what was created here.  Mother Nature –  you’re good!

Anyway, one of the best parts of arriving here is the it feels like we are arriving to our own cabin on this lovely ranch.  Since all the cabins are open when you arrive, we simply parked in front of our place and unpacked.  No people around … nobody asking us to check in.  You just arrive to your place and get settled.  And, since we’ve never been here at any time to see anyone else in our cabin, it feels like ‘ours’.

Hubby and I peeked at the guest list and horse partnering list.

As in previous years, 80% of the guests are returns and we will meet a few new people at the Welcoming Social tonight!

THE BEST NEWS OF ALL

Hubby and I walked over to the barn and checked out the horse partnering list…

I GOT DOVE AGAIN!  I am so excited!!  I hope she is just as excited.

Hubby also got the awesome horse he requested.  Rose.

This is starting out very, very well…!

These two horses were in the corrals. The rest of the horses are still all out on the vacation pasture. These guys here were very curious about us.
