The clouds have parted!! Wahoo!
…In case you are just checking in for this week, I am at the R Lazy S Ranch in Jackson, Wyoming with Hubby. It is the same Guest Ranch that I stumbled upon last year. Love it!
However, it has rained the last several days which is very uncharacteristic… previously when I was here alone during this same week, I was in short sleeves and sunburned!
But today, the clouds have parted and the sun is shining!
For me, there are hardly any places on earth as glorious as the Tetons in Summer.
The only thing better is viewing the Tetons via horseback!
- I took this photo of the Tetons when I was looking over the R Lazy S corral fence.
HUBBY WENT ON AN ALL-DAY RIDE!!
I had other commitments this afternoon so I couldn’t go on the all-day ride to Phelps Lake.
But… Hubby has now been bitten! He went without me on an ALL DAY RIDE! Unbelievable.
I swear, three days ago, he was pissy that he had to ride a horse during the morning session with me. He kept saying that he would rather ride a bike, go trail running or rock climbing…
But today, three days later, he doesn’t want to miss a ride and signed up for the ALL DAY – even when I couldn’t go!
Ha!
The BUG has bitten him!
He told me last night that we had to figure out a way to come back next year “no matter what”…!
Love it!

The first group are lining up to go out on the morning ride and LOOK WHO IS IN THE MIDDLE!! Of course, Angel! She has to be in the center of things!

Here is Hubby and his group leaving for the all-day ride to Phelps Lake. Hubby is the fourth one back with the white hat and cream colored pants.

Look who had to join them!! Angel ran after this group but couldn’t catch up before she was distracted. She is so cute!
MY HALF DAY RIDE…
I had an appointment at 2pm so I knew I could only go out in the morning… But half day is better than no day.
OK, so there were only 2 guests (Me and another woman) and the Wrangler, Kenzie. It was almost like a private ride! Since almost everyone went on an all-day excursion to some lovely destination, there were only us 2 ladies left over.
Fun!
I have no idea where we went but it was all over the forest, in creeks, around wild flowers, under the vision of the HorseGods in the Teton National Park. Glorious…
We chatted and talked about how much it felt as though we were all in a John Wayne movie… or something like that. We were alone with the wildlife. So incredible.
The R Lazy S is one of the few guest ranches with access to the Teton National Park. It is on the other side of their fenceline. You go through a gate and Viola – Teton National Park! Amazing.

We were in open fields and in the forest, in creeks, and all over the Park floor! That is Wrangler, Kenzie.

Wrangler Kenzie adjusts her stirrups while I sit in awe of this glorious ride…

I totally felt like I was in a John Wayne movie about the old West… miles and miles of open space! Dove was quite interested herself!

I was so excited to see elk that I kinda stumbled on this photo… it is a huge herd of Mamas and babies!

When we returned at noon, the sun was shining! I was so happy that Hubby was going to have sun on is all-day ride!
MY FAVORITE PHOTO OF THE DAY!
Isn’t he as cute as could be?!
This guy came out to give one of the guests a ride and I just loved his look! Great bangs! Great feet!

Oh my gosh! I just met him today and fell in love! I will have to find out his name!

The accommodations are more than clean and comfy! Not extravagant but very pleasant. Wood burning stove, nice wood furniture, coffee maker, electric blankets and lovely regular blankets, nice shower and bathroom. All cabins have decks. Mine has a swing. They really think of their guests here and are very willing to help with your needs – however, they frown on anyone being “Mr. Bigstuff” because everyone here is special in their own way.
The Wranglers carry bear spray… And, we sing if we see bear scratchings on trees. Personally, I am
not a fan of bear sightings. Last year, I saw 4 and 0 would have been enough. But, this is their home and we have to tread loudly to make sure no accidents happen.
Looks AWESOME!! Wondering what cabin are you staying in? I’d like to convince MY hubby to go next year, and a review of accommodations would be great! We’re not terribly picky….clean & comfy works for us. Thanks!
Hi Dawn ,
Very beautiful…. Might be a crazy question but……….what about bears?
