I wrote about this amazing offer back in July… Write and essay, win this horse farm! They have not yet received their 5000 submissions – so you have a much better chance then you might have thought!
Go for it!
Here is my original post again, so you can review the rules:
WRITE AN ESSAY – WIN THIS HORSE FARM!
This sounds amazing to me…
Write an essay and maybe, just maybe win a 35 acre horse farm in Virginia (with trails)!
OK, yes, there is a fee of $200 to submit your essay. But considering they expect only 5000 entrants, heck… that’s WAY BETTER than the lottery!
YES, THEY MIGHT MAKE MONEY ON THE DEAL, BUT YOU GET A FREE HOUSE!!
If you read through all the paperwork, you will see that it is legitimate and legal.
Actually, the couple is quite forthcoming with information. If you go to the page that has all the documents, you will see several FAQs as well as stories and pertinent information.
If you go to the FB page, you will see all the remodeling photos and how this couple put in much time and love to revive this property.
FINE PRINT: OK, I looked through all the pages of informational paperwork… These people really have worked hard to help applicants understand their love for this property and the implications. Here are a few important pieces of information: You have to be serious about living there and wanting this property for yourself because… the rules say that you have to reside in the house, you cannot develop it or sell it for 2 years and you must honor the existing (good) tenant contract on the property’s guest house. Also… there are income taxes associated with this (as well as property taxes). If you win, the house value is considered income. So, you would have to pay income taxes on this windfall. The income taxes for this prize would depend upon your individual income for that year. However, those prize income taxes would be far less than a mortgage. But, the house is not ‘free’ in that sense.
EASY INSTRUCTIONS AND LOTS OF INFORMATION
Enter to win this 35-acre farm!
It could be yours!
Virginia is for Lovers! So where better to own a hobby farm to raise goats, alpacas, rabbits, sheep, chickens, horses, or more — especially one you can own for an essay and an entry fee of $200? The 35-acre Rock Spring Farm, located on Virginia’s Middle Peninsula in Essex County, will become the property of an essayist who can convince a panel of judges – educators, horse enthusiasts, and hobby farmers – he or she wants to live in rural Essex County. The Rock Spring Farm Essay Contest will end Oct. 31, 2015; all entries must be received by Oct. 31, 2015. Entries received after that date will be returned. The new owner will be announced on or before January 1, 2016. To learn more, scroll through the articles posted in this blog, or visit the Rock Spring Farm Facebook page:
