The petition shown below was a bit of sad news in my inbox today… as you well know, the Mustang plight is heartbreaking to me.
…At the end of this sad email petition, there was a place to sign. And, because I know that this group, AMERICAN WILD HORSE PRESERVATION CAMPAIGN, is successful in most of their endeavors for the Wild Ones, I felt encouraged to sign… and confident to pass it onto you.
Click here to sign this powerful petition backed by a group of passionate yet polite warriors.
AWHPC are the folks who marched up to the steps of their Governor’s office and demanded rights for their mustangs. And, believe it or not, several months later, the gov’t of Nevada now has an arrangement with AWHPC to come to them first when there are estray or wild horses rounded up.
So, if you are feeling like the Mustang fight is difficult (it is), at least know that signing this petition holds some weight. These people will push and push and push – politely, until things change.

ANOTHER WAY TO HELP THE MUSTANGS THIS MONTH – OUR BUCKET FUND!
Our Bucket Fund this month is for a pilot program run by the same folks as above…
The Train to Sustain program is a 6 month trial where the star trainer from the Prisoner Trained Mustang Program works with the wild ones who are presently in the care of AWHPC (rescued from various roundups).
The goal is to give both the Mustangs and the Man – healthy jobs that fit into their new society.
HERE IS A NOTE FROM HIS SUPERVISOR:
Fred is working with a number of at-risk horses including some animal shelter
seizures. I believe you got a picture of him riding with the Happy Hoofers in
the Dayton Valley Days parade. He’ll also be in charge of 36 reservation
mustangs by next week that need to be evaluated and slated either for an
adoption track or for sanctuary. Fortunately he’s young and has energy.
Matching funds are forthcoming so it looks like this project isn’t just off and
running, it’s off and flying.
Fred is working really long days, loves it, and he said that he sleeps pretty
soundly at night.
The really cool part is that he’s one of those people that animals just tend to
Fred has been given housing on the ranch, an area/gear to work with the horses and his pick of the wild herd housed there.
His knack has already gentled several of the horses and readied them for adoption.
Our Bucket Fund would keep the program going for 6 months… a long enough period to prove success and then garner large donations from groups waiting in the wings.
Would you like to help Fred and the AWHPC help these horses who, sadly, will not be set free – but could find a new freedom in an adoptor’s home… so much better than the concentration camps of BLM Mustang containment areas.
Fred’s training is gentle, powerful and very inexpensive.
Bang for your Buck! Six months (with matching funds) is only $3000! I don’t know of any trainer who would be willing to gentle 8 mustangs at a time for $1000/month, do you?
And wouldn’t you love to be able to adopt a trained Mustang?!
HORSE AND MAN is a blog in growth… if you like this, please pass it around!
