And now for something entirely different, How about a few days of HISTORICAL TRAIL RIDING?! Butch Cassidy, Wyatt Earp, John Wayne…!

Although I love Western Clothes and Tack and jewelry… I am not a Western Rider or a Western Wearer and I don’t own a Quarter Horses (yet)…

BUT, something about Western Heritage floats my boat.

I just love the feel of Western landscapes and Western decor!  Do you?

Well, that’s why I subscribe to a few Western magazines.  My favorite is AMERICAN COWBOY.  Do you get that magazine?

Anyway, while I was flipping through it last night (I try to read magazines before nodding off in bed but mostly I just nod off), I dog-eared this ad:

It might be a bit difficult for you to see here, but it showed average people having a great time riding where Comanche, Butch Cassidy, Billy the Kid, Wyatt Earp and John Wayne rode!

How fun would that be?!

So, I decided to check it out!

THE WEBSITE – BEAUTIFUL LANDSCAPES!

OK, I’m no expert on this outfit and I’ve never ridden with them, but here is what I gathered from a decent skim of the website.

–You ride out every day to incredibly glorious locations far from anywhere – usually 4-5 days, depending upon orientation.

–They will match one of their horses to your skill

–Any skill level is accepted

–They have top wranglers

–It sure looks like everyone has fun

–You are encouraged to dress in period outfits – so for those of you who love that stuff, this is your chance!

–They provide sack lunches daily.

–At night, you stay in a nearby hotel of your choosing.  They do suggest certain hotels and block rooms, but that cost is not included.

–You provide your own dinner and bfast.

Gorgeous.

Gorgeous.

THE RIDES!

I got the impression that these folks are movie folks – or at least love the Old Westerns!  They reference movie locations for every ride.  Right up my alley!

1)  COMANCHE MOON – They even have an Indian Guide on this one!

This looked very "Indian Territory" to me.

If I went on this one, I’d watch these movies to get familiar with the location.
