Usually I like to show videos on Funday Sundays… but today I’m going to introduce you to some neighbors. The Geese family.
There are several ponds in the area, so there are many water fowl.
But, there is a pair of mated geese that live in our corner neighbor’s field – and they have for several years now. They are always there, eating the grass and whatever else they find. I think they’ve chosen her field because it is across the street from the large and populated pond, but off the beaten path and sheltered from cars or other noisy things.
I’ve grown accustomed to seeing them as I round the corner to enter our street. I check them out and make sure all is good, and then I move on.
Anyway, I guess I wasn’t that observant because I didn’t even notice that they had eggs and that those eggs had hatched!
TODAY ON MY DRIVE HOME
We are all very familiar with wild turkeys parading their new babies around in Spring. And, we hear the peacocks pretty much non-stop.
But, we hardly ever see the geese families because we have no water on our property.
That changed today!
I came around the corner and saw them IN THE ROAD!
I couldn’t believe it! This was so negligent of them – I know they know better… but I guess they figured that it was a nice day for a stroll IN THE ROAD.
Oy.
So, I did my best to corral them off into the bushes.

I turned our corner and I saw them! Oh No! They weren’t in the safety of their pasture and they had babies with them! What were they thinking?!

As I drove up, they were so tamed, they didn’t even fret. This was NOT GOOD. They needed to fly back over the fences and be safe! Aren’t the babies cute?!

So I leaned out my window and started yelling at them to go home and get out of the street and be smart geese and fly home… At this point, they thought I was a crazy human and started to run.

Mom and the babies took heed and ended up running into the tall grass. Dad, however, ran in front of my car. Finally, I had to get out and wave my arms. He looked at me like he was going to unfriend me and then took off flying. He made a wide arc and met up with his family who were now safe behind the fences. Phew! Crisis averted.
MAY BUCKET FUND: THE HUNG HORSES! This much deserved Bucket Fund is starting very slowly even though the story has gotten much traction. The surviving horses are very much alive and would greatly benefit from our support! Click here to read their story! Click here to donate!
