Metro, the Painting horse, has a new coloring book hot off the presses!
DO YOU REMEMBER METRO?
A while back, I wrote about Metro Meteor, the painting horse. You can read that post here.
The quick version of Metro is that he was a racehorse born with a knee issue. Although he ran very well in the beginning his career was short – and he was sent down the long road.
Luckily, a beginning riding couple from Pennsylvania didn’t know enough not to adopt a fairly green OTTB for trail riding behind their house… so they did.
And the magic began.
METRO’S NEW CAREER – PAINTING!
First, they fell in love with him. Second, they healed him through new medicine. And third, they taught him to paint.
Metro is a very successful artist in his home town and has sold thousands of dollars worth of work. And through his skill, Metro is an ambassador for OTTBs with 50% of the proceeds from the sale of his paintings donated to help other OTTBs find home through New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program.
My favorite paragraph from Metro’s new owners:
“My wife, Wendy, and I had been discussing getting her a horse for trail riding, and here was a free one. Not knowing anything about horses, and how Metro was completely the wrong horse to learn on, we decided to take him home.
We soon found out that we had our hands full. Metro was full of attitude, and himself. He was stubborn, cranky, would kick and bite at you when you tried to groom him, but we thought he was the greatest horse in the world. We just loved him.”

Metro and some of his work… his owner helps him a little by painting the background and smoothing certain areas. But, I think this is a great partnership because more paintings sell with the duo working together – and that only helps other OTTBs more through their donations to the cause..
NOW, BRAND NEW: METRO HAS A COLORING BOOK! (on Amazon)
Well, just this morning, I received a press release saying that Metro has created a new coloring book available on Amazon! Also, there are plans to auction off copies on Ebay, autographed by Metro, with the proceeds to benefit New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program.
You can watch this video to see how Metro painted this fine book with gusto! Click here
METRO HAS A FACEBOOK PAGE, TOO!
I read that Metro’s story will soon be a book (releasing in April 2016). I think his FB page will be a good way to track this book and all of Metro’s newest work!
