METRO METEOR: THE HORSE WHO PAINTS to help other OTTBs!

Have you heard about this ex-racehorse, Metro Meteor?

He paints.

What started as a head-bobbing thing, turned into a business!

Smart owner.

The owners (Ron and Wendy Krajewski) purchased Metro as a first horse for the wife…

As it turned out, not such a great choice for a green rider (especially with Metro’s broken down knees…), but a great choice for this family.

They loved him.

So, taking into consideration Metro’s love of head-bobbing, strong attitude and inability to trail ride anymore, his family decided to put a paintbrush in his bobbing mouth.

Et Voila!

FAME

Now, Metro’s loving and devoted owner, Ron Krajewski, is an artist himself.

So, he knows a bit about canvases, color, balance and marketing.

I think he helps Metro a bit… but, I don’t care about that because clearly this is a win-win.

Metro has a great home, is an ambassador for OTTBs and 50% of the proceeds of the sale of his paintings goes to help other OTTBs find home through New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program.

HIS STORY!

I pulled this information directly from Metro’s website.

I fell in love with the owner/writer of the website from this line:

“My wife, Wendy, and I had been discussing getting her a horse for trail riding, and here was a free one. Not knowing anything about horses, and how Metro was completely the wrong horse to learn on, we decided to take him home.
We soon found out that we had our hands full. Metro was full of attitude, and himself. He was stubborn, cranky, would kick and bite at you when you tried to groom him, but we thought he was the greatest horse in the world. We just loved him.”

Only one comment so far...

I have been Facebook friends with Ron and Wendy for a couple years, so have watched Metro’s painting career from the get-go. I had NO idea he would get so popular so fast, though! I’m sure that Ron, with his artist’s eye, helping him out by selecting nice colors has been beneficial. I know Ron also rotates the canvases so the paint goes on evenly. But Metro really does do most/all of the actual painting!

Ron laughs because he has been so busy with Metro’s art career that he scarcely has had time for his own (he does fantastic drawings and painting of horses, dogs, cats and other pets). They are thrilled and delighted that so many people are interested in Metro’s work, and I’m sure that New Vocations is overjoyed at the financial aid that’s been flowing in. Win-win for everybody – hurray for OTTBs!
