LET’S CHANGE IT UP TO HAPPINESS TODAY! A Story about “Little Trigger” from Petrine Mitchum

(Thank you all for your very kind sentiments regarding our loss of Slick.  Knowing I’m not alone makes it much easier.  I am truly grateful to hear from you all.)

HOLLYWOOD HOOFBEATS AND LITTLE TRIGGER! – A happy story!

One of my favorite books is “HOLLYWOOD HOOFBEATS” by Petrine Day Mitchum (daughter of Robert Mitchum).

I’ve written about this book previously.  To me, it is a total smile because every page is filled with movie/horse stories which are my two loves!  So, any time I’m low, I open to any page and read a great story about an amazing horse who had amazing talent and a formidable bond with his trainer.

I aspire to be able to train a trick horse…  If I had the time and more patience, that is what I would do.  I find that instant – almost telepathic – bond amazing.

When I had my TV series, Horse and Man, I had the great luck to interview both Tad Griffiths (stunt horse trainer and rider) and Rudy Ugland (legendary stunt horse trainer).  Amazing.  The horses loved these guys and would do anything for them.

To me, real horse trainers (not bullies) are the real horse whisperers.  They not only join up with the horse, but the create a dance and a partnership.  Love that.

Same with the ‘at liberty’ trainers.

Those people enthrall me.

So, after a horribly emotional week, I thought I’d lighten the load with the story I read last night before I went to sleep.

The book I love. It is all about movies and horses! What else is there! ;)

LITTLE TRIGGER – Excerpt from HOLLYWOOD HOOFBEATS by Petrine Mitchum

I chose this story because “Little Trigger” was a Morgan.  Mama Tess, Gwen and Wrigley are Morgans.

In this story… you will see that Little Trigger was the agreed ‘smartest’ Trigger.  Read to see what he does to mess with Roy Rogers!

THANK YOU, PETRINE MITCHUM, FOR RESEARCHING AND WRITING THIS BOOK THAT IS SO RIGHT UP MY ALLEY!  I CHERISH IT LIKE A CHILD CHERISHES THE CAT IN THE HAT.

HORSE AND MAN is a blog in growth... if you like this, please pass it around!

Dawn, I just heard/read about Slick. I am so very sorry. What a big hole in your heart he must have left. He had a wonderful life with you, though, I hope that is some comfort. And eventually he’ll greet you at the Rainbow Bridge with everyone else — I am sure they are all friends there.

With tears for you — Judith
