I love feel good stories…
This one, from Susan Salk at OFF-TRACK THOROUGHBREDS (click here for full story), really made me smile…
First off, this horse, Cost of Freedom, was 10 years old and still racing! He’d been racing for 8 years… he had won over a million dollars… and now he was in a Santa Anita claiming race for only 8K.
Kinda sad. He was just good enough to not be retired.
He just kept racing. Trying his best to keep up with the young ones.
…We know where this was headed.
EXCEPT… A Christmas Miracle happened!
(Hint: This very smart, seasoned, muscled, beentheredonethat gelding will soon be John Malone’s riding buddy!)
A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE FOR ‘COST OF FREEDOM’!

MY FAVORITE PART OF THE ARTICLE
This paragraph below was my favorite part.
After all these years of work, the gelding is still loving and generous. And, he’s ‘been there, done that’ kind of attitude.
Imagine being around a track for 8 years! This guy is seasoned, healthy (especially after 8 years on the track! – he must be good stock!), well-minded and ready for his next adventure in life – trail riding.
What a great story to have this man recognize and honor this horse.
…Here is the graph I enjoyed the most:
