I’m telling you… EVERYONE. Pre-order the movie, Unbranded (only $14.99).
I finished watching it over two hours ago and I’m still thinking about it. It doesn’t matter if you are a horse person or not. This movie is so much more!
Imagine… 3000 miles – from Mexico to Canada – 4 men and 16 wild horses…. And if that isn’t gripping enough, these 4 men are recent graduates of Texas A&M – young. Fit, Fresh and just at that age where they never considered that they couldn’t do this… To me, UNBRANDEDis a combination of THE COWBOYS and THE HORSE WHISPERER with even better cinematography (did I just say that?!).
Thrilling. Exciting. Moving. Strong.
I am more than impressed.
EXECUTIVE PRODUCER PRODUCED “BUCK”.
If you liked Buck, this is better. In my opinion, UNBRANDED is shot like a major motion picture, not a documentary – even though it is a documentary.
And, I have to say, as a producer … the content and pacing was perfectly balanced. She touched on all of the important parts in just the right measures. Bravo.
I’m sure there are oodles and oodles of incredible footage that didn’t make the cut… gorgeous scenery. Gorgeous shots. She must have cried over some of her editing choices. I bet the ‘extra features’ on the DVD are amazing.
For me, I took such joy in the moments devoted to the relationships between the men and their horses. In particular, there are several shots where the men are loving on their horses… squeezing their cheeks, rubbing their heads and playing with their lips. So sweet. Truly, you can see the bonds – especially after navigating such treacherous terrain. Lordylordylordy. If those horses didn’t trust their humans, they would have left for sure.
One of the riders talks to camera about his two horses (and all of the horses)… he says that they are a lot like him (and the other riders) … a ‘mirror to the soul’. Clearly he’s spent some of his saddle time considering this, which I admired.
For me, I think they should create Action Figures out of the horses – that is how incredible they were. After viewing the movie, I think there will be a demand for horse fan clubs (Donquita is my favorite)!
If you are looking for a political battle, it isn’t in this movie. All sides are shown for the viewer to come to their own conclusions.
Several times, the main Wrangler speaks that he is doing this to bring awareness to the masses of the plight of the mustang. But, that plight is seen from many angles.
What isn’t in question is the value and substance of the wild horse. Not only did these robust animals outperform domesticated horses, but as one wrangler says, “Natural selection is the best selection.”
What started my quest regarding UNBRANDED was an article I ripped out of C&I magazine. Then, a few weeks later, my friend TOM (Hi, Tom!) told me about the book which was sitting on the coffee table of the R Lazy S Ranch. I flipped through it… and it grabbed me.
The book wrapped me like a cyclone. It was beautiful but full of information, real stories from the trip, horse stories, after stories… loved it! I want one.
So, you can simply pre-order the DVD, or you can get sets with the book or a Tshirt or several DVDS or a print…
At the moment, I’m contemplating which package I must purchase. Even though I have just viewed the movie (pre-screen) online, I feel I need to own the DVD and the book, for sure, and maybe a Tshirt.
HOST A MOVIE SCREENING IN YOUR TOWN! – husbands will love this movie!
As I was viewing the movie today, Hubby kept coming over and watching, trying to not act as interested as he was… this being a ‘horse’ movie and all. But, after a few minutes, he made me start it over and he watched it with me.
This isn’t a chick flick about horses. It is a real life adventure movie with horses.
So, since UNBRANDED will appeal to a large audience, you might want to do a screening in your home town. The movie theater kind.
I don’t know much about this… but there is a link on the website where it tells you how you can get a big screening at your local theater. Here is the host a screening link.
