I love stories like this… an old method that still works today. Pack teams can aid forest fighters when the smoke is too thick for planes.
Hallelujah that people are still running pack strings and training pack animals.
Here is the story from the US FOREST SERVICE FB page.
We are getting there for Pegasus!! Still $500 short of reaching our goal for our August Bucket Fund horse, Pegasus, who lost his tail while trying to survive on the streets. You can read his story here.
All donations are 100% tax deductible. THANK YOU in advance! (Any Sunday Starbucks change?)

HORSE AND MAN is a blog in growth... if you like this, please pass it around!
First, I think that this is really wonderful and I thank you so much for sharing it! I hope all your readers share it on all the media they use. It will help everyone see how valuable our horses and burros are and maybe people will weigh that when thinking about our wild horses and burros. They are beautiful. They are icons of freedom and have their own intrinsic value as sentient beings. But they are in danger of being sent to slaughter and many in the general public who are not horse owners or long time horse lovers and watchers do not know very much about their history or what things they are doing and achieving today. This is a tangible reason to help educate the public. So share, share, share!!!
