First of all, did you see the Denver Bronco’s mascot, Thunder, at the game? I didn’t, either. I totally missed him. Phooey. I would have loved to have seen him thunder into the arena, leading the players!
I read that he is a 16 year-old Arab gelding. They say he was picked to be Thunder #3 because of his temperament – very easy going, tractable and unflappable.
I know Thunder is a fan/crowd favorite and I’m glad to know that he was there, acting as a fine equine ambassador.
But the interesting tidbit is that he almost didn’t make it to the Super Bowl due to very bad weather!

Honestly – what idiot would try to haul a horse trailer in snow and ice? What were they trying to do – collect mortality insurance so they could buy a new younger mascot? I’m sure it was just a money-saving strategy but frankly even if the Broncos’ owner had to hock his Rolex to do so this horse should have gone by air. Even the fully-outfitted horse transports won’t go in the snow especially over the Sierras.
You are correct. I didn’t catch that… I deleted the HORSE AND RIDER article because
it must not be about Thunder #3, even though it was a recent article. Thank you for catching it.
If he is only 16 how can he be a 1994 would he not be 2000? If he was a 1994 wouldn’t that make him 22?
