In my humble opinion, Mustangs are amazing beings. I have several here and they are different, in a ‘worldly way’ than domestic horses. Smart. Sound. Beautiful. Fit. Ready.
In the movie, UNBRANDED, they used fresh, barely trained, wild BLM Mustangs to take them from Mexico to Canada. Mustangs rock.
Now, you all know that I don’t believe we should be gathering them all up and making these glorious animals live in crowded BLM holding pens. And, since I don’t believe this is a good life for previously wild mustangs, I like to support the programs that allow these horses to get OUT of those BLM holding pens as quickly as possible.
My Rojo came from one of these programs – The Carson City Prisoner Trained Mustang Adoption.
The program that I am presenting today is brand new: The Sacramento Sheriff’s Wild Horse Program! The adoption of their saddle horses on Sept 10th, is their very first! Bravo! We need as many programs as possible to help these poor Mustangs who are shoulder to shoulder in BLM holding facilities.
When I lived in Grass Valley, the Sacramento Mounted Posse was very visible and very into their horses – so I can presume that this new adoption program has heart.
YOUR CHANCE TO GO TO THE VERY FIRST SACRAMENTO ADOPTION – YOU WILL FIND AN INCREDIBLE MOUNT FOR VERY, VERY, VERY REASONABLE PRICES WHO NEEDS A SECOND CHANCE – (entry bid is $300 and I’ve seen it happen where the event is so badly attended that some of these very well trained, smart, beautiful horses – have no bids…)
HERE ARE THE FABULOUS 10! – This is the first time I’ve seen mares in these adoptions!
(My fav would be Shiloh.)
IF YOU GO, PLEASE LET ME KNOW – AND IF YOU ADOPT ONE OF THESE GOLDEN HORSES – hooray!!! PLEASE SEND PICS!

Maybe send a family member in your honor! Take pics or adopt for you!! ;)
The adoption event is on my birthday in the city in which I was born…if I lived there, I would be going! Sadly, I live in Florida, so no chance of my attending :) I would really love to have the experience of adopting and working with a Mustang. If I had more horse experience and the right situation, I would do it in a heartbeat.
