I’m sure many of you read the article about Ann Romney’s horse qualifying for the Olympics in Dressage.

Yay! Great news!
Not only is qualifying for the Olympics great for Ann Romney (as well as the other owners of the horse Rafalca), but it is great for horsepeople in general. As so many have surmised, should Ann’s husband get into the White House, having a horse lover’s head on the pillow next to the President could be a very good thing.
BUT FOR ME…
But for me, Ann’s horse qualifying for the Olympics has a different twist to it…
You see, as I read the above cited article, my eyes focused on this graph:
Romney is avidly involved in the expensive world of dressage, sometimes known as “horse ballet,” and credits horseback riding for almost eliminating her symptoms from multiple sclerosis, which she was diagnosed with in 1998
“Horses are amazing teachers,” said Romney, who visited with other patients who like her use riding as therapy. “I love these wonderful, sweet companions that teach us so much.”
That’s what I’m talkin’ about!
Having THAT kind of a horse advocate sharing a pillow with the President (should he win) would be a boon for horses everywhere!
It takes that kind of thinking to elevate the awareness of the plight of these sentient creatures.

Ann Romney and Rafalca. It isn’t just the Dressage aspect…it is that she credits horses with helping her through MS.
I’M NOT TOO POLITICAL…but…
I’m not too political but I do recognize advocacy when I see it. I kinda think Ann Romney feels she owes her continued health to these wonderful creatures. I think she sees what horses give to humans. I think she sees a value and a hook – a virtue, a commerce piece that others will comprehend and stand behind.
I kinda think that underneath the Olympic Dressage and the MS advocacy platform, Ann Romney got bitten by the horse bug and she truly sees the value of these beings.
I hope she feels the desire to give back… I kinda think she does.

I think her beautiful horse could help ambassador all horses via tapping into the mainstream and teach the masses how horses matter – not just elite athletes, but those in Therapeutic Riding schools and in little/big girls’ hearts…
THIS JUST IN! (6/27/12)
This story was in my inbox after I had posted the above.
My only comment is that I am guessing there might be more to the story since Ann Romney is only one of the owners of the horse in question. In my personal experience, my trainer would ask the vet to do things to my show horses that I wasn’t aware… which is one reason I no longer show.
So, my decision on Ann is still open until I learn – if possible – her actual involvement with the drugs and the sale of this horse. I would like to think that this lawsuit opened her eyes. However, she is still using the same trainer, so who knows.
Here is a very controversial article regarding Ann and one of her other horses.

It would not surprise me at all to find that the allegations of drugging are true or at least have some basis in fact. Google Romeny + Dog + Roof to find out just what sort of animal “lovers” these people are.
Get real. I’m having to put my 33 year old mare to sleep in an hour. Don’t have much tolerance for Obama bashing because he didn’t have a dog. Romney had a dog and remember how lovingly he cared for him? Let’s get back to horses and leave politics to other forums better informed.
yes, equines do give us some thing in return health wise. For me it is a good ride relieves any back pain I had, emotionally they help too as when I was going threw cancer treatment. It would be nice to have a horse/animal lover in office, god knows the current one isn’t as they didn’t even have a dog when they started being in office. Pets of all sizes and types are a prominent part of american culture and they need to be in the white house on the lawn in the stables and so on. Because our best presidents all loved the great out doors starting with the first one. george he owned and bred mules and had the first mammoth spanish donkey jack in the country to do this.
