UPDATE on our July Bucket Fund wild foal, ARI! And the July Bucket Fund receipt!

You all remember last month’s story about the wild foal who was found trapped in a muddy bog.   The stallion and several mares were trying to get him out, which they did, but in the process, his entire right rear leg was degloved.   The poor baby spent 3 weeks in the hospital where he had acute medical attention and twice daily bandage changes.  You can read that story here.

Here are some pics from that story…

This is what rescuers saw when they came upon the scene. The baby is stuck in the bog and the other horses are trying to encourage him to move. The stallion is pawing him.

Rescuers came to his aid. They saw that most of his skin was missing on his right rear leg.

WARNING: NEXT PIC IS GRAPHIC

GRAPHIC PHOTO WARNING!!

This was after a few days, during a bandage change. His wounds were healing nicely!

UPDATE

I received a note from LRTC and Wild Horse Connection.  They told me that the healing in Ari over just one month is miraculous!  Unbelievable!

He is a very sweet boy and has made friends with older horses, who comfort him.  Ari fits in nicely.  When he is healed, this lovely boy will be adoptable.  And, isn’t it great news that he heals so well?!  A great quality in a horse!

Making friends with the older horses.

Taking classes… I love that he has one black and one white front hoof!

Looking dapper at his young age.

The only part of the wound still healing is his inner thigh and hock. Truly amazing. 30 days.
