HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED HOW A HORSE IS PUT UNDER ANESTHESIA FOR SURGERY AND THEN AWAKENED – have you seen an equine surgery table? Very interesting…

The only time I have ever witnessed an equine surgery was when Mama Tess went in for her coffin bone debridement.

To be honest, I had to leave once she was unconscious… seeing her all floppy and being moved around with chains attached to cranes – was a bit much for me.

HOWEVER, the actual surgery tables, how they moved, how anesthesia works and how vets have created safe recovery rooms, is fascinating to me.

Just the process of positioning a 1200lb dead weight onto a surgery table…, let alone the surgery itself, is amazing.

Here is an article about Pioneer Equine Hospital surgery and a short video about equine surgery prep and recovery.  Watch the video.  A whole new world!
