You did it – again!
Last Sunday, there was a feral pony with a battered and pus filled eye – on the slaughter truck in Texas. ASAIB was there, trying to help as many horses as possible.
ASIAB texted me and asked if we could save him using the Keep Them off the Truck Fund. Since I knew we had enough in donations, I didn’t hesitate.
YES. We CAN save him!
And we did.
(The Horse and Man Foundation Keep Them off the Truck Fund is a 24/7, 365 days a week fund where anyone can donate any amount at any time and it will be added to the account. The amount in the Fund will rise and fall as we collect donations and then distribute them to save horses who have no hope of adoption at the kill buyer meat markets.)
HIS STORY FROM WHAT WE KNOW. AND A VIDEO!
This is little Eddie. He is mostly feral. Eddie was discovered on the slaughter truck with his eye like this. They said he was feral and going to slaughter.
Once ASIAB knew that they could save him (Thank you all for donating to the Keep Them off of the Truck Fund!), they immediately bailed him and took Eddie to the vet.
Upon first check, the vet thought he would need the eye removed due to infection. However, once they actually got in there, they realized that his skull was fractured in a few areas around his eye! The eye was still OK. They flushed the wounds and gave him antibiotics. This pony will survive – after several weeks in the hospital.
No one knows anything about him. We don’t know if the fracture was why he was sent to slaughter… or his attitude… or mistreatment… or if he fell down and was trampled in the slaughter truck.
But, what we do know is that he is being cared for, he is being loved on and he will survive, thanks to you all.
Maybe a few weeks in the hospital will help him get used to people and not be so ‘feral’. Crossing fingers.

EDDIE AND ALL OF US, THANK YOU FOR SAVING HIM!
