WITHOUT A FARMBOY… MY SHODDY REPAIRS WHILE HUBBY IS OUT OF TOWN.

Hubby was awarded his dream job in Paso Robles.

For sure this is a mostly ‘Yay!’ – with a little bit of ‘not so Yay’.

It means Hubby is not around to do the Honey-Do List.

And just by happenstance, my Helper Farmboy hurt his shoulder.  (Poor Kid, he has too many ladies like me ordering him around.)

The feed store I frequent doesn’t have any extra guys they can spare right now to help.   So, for now, until Farmboy gets better, it’s me.

And I’m not very good.

I’d fire me.

I mean, I mean well and all… but my work is shoddy (at best).

I’m just not big enough or strong enough to hold up an 8′ fence rail and screw/nail it in at the same time.  So, I make due with whatever I can figure out at the time.

For now, it is what it is.  And I’m not too proud to share because I bet there are a few of you out there who might recognize the work…  ;)

EXAMPLES OF MY FINE WORK…

I noticed a broken board with a sharp side - right where a hoof could get caught. I didn't have a board the right size - and I won't use an electric saw, so... I used some of MT's leftover vet wrap. It works! Looks bad... but it works.

I couldn't find the original U-Ring hook that was in the barn door. I couldn't find any U-Hooks around here although I know we have them. So, I put in an Eye-screw and it works well enough - until Hubby can find the Uhooks.

The ponies and Finn got into a fight and broke out their board. This is an odd sized board. I didn't have the correct length so I screwed two boards together and then screwed the Frankenstein into place. It works - for now.

I don't know how this board got so warped, but it was difficult to nail it back in correctly - so I moved the water trough in front of it. It works until Hubby can fix it.

Poor Finn, he has a double embarrassment in his pasture... The board broke so I screwed it together, but I got it wrong and it is now too long to fit in correctly. So I had to nail it below where it really goes. Ug-ly.

You can be proud of yourself, Dawn, for among your many gifts are adaptability and inventiveness in the face of problematic issues. i thought using MT’s leftover wrap on the broken board was pretty creative! I think when hubby gets done laughing he’ll be proud of your ingenuity ’cause you done good!

Necessity is the mother of invention.

Kudos for being so creative in your repairs…I’d never think of using Vet wrap!
