For all you Racehorse fans: Could mystery horse skeleton be legendary 18th century racehorse Doctor Syntax?

I was sent this link and found it quite interesting…

Not only that this horse was buried in a very careful and royal manner, but that this horse was a pristine racehorse – in that it races without any outside influences.  To me, these are the true racehorses and I do wish the industry could be pristine now.  I know it would be virtually impossible with all that is at stake financially, but it would be nice to see horses race on their innate ability…  just like it would be great to see humans compete without any performance enhancing drugs.

Off my soapbox.

Anyway, these skeletal remains were found buried in the UK and scientists are trying to determine if they are the bones of the famous Doctor Syntax.

My favorite lines in this article are:

Palace House was built by Charles II in the 17th century, as a grand residence allowing him to be as close as possible to his beloved racehorses.

Experts believe the unusual siting of the remains of this horse underneath the outdoor yard indicate that the animal, even if not Doctor Syntax, was a particular favourite of the King.
