HERE IS A HORSE WHO GENERATES INCOME FOR HIS KEEP – Justin the Artistic Horse!

Writing about the decline of SeaBiscuit’s home, Ridgewood Ranch, yesterday (linked here) made me sad… but it also riled me up with all kinds of ideas on how horses could make money for their owners.

I’m not suggesting that all horses should learn to paint to earn their keep or that horses need to work to earn their keep… or that a horse that paints could help Ridgewood Ranch.

I’m just sayin’… that this is a way.  And it was fun to read about these Leoneighardo DaHoofies of the equine world.

HORSES WHO PAINT!

Previously, I had written about Metro Meteor who paints for a living… and does very well, I might add!  (linked here)

Well, while researching on the internet, I found another horse who paints for a living, Justin the Artistic Horse.

JUSTIN THE ARTISTIC HORSE

Different than Metro, Justin chooses to paint on the floor.  Sometimes he uses an easel, but mostly he uses the floor as his backdrop.

Justin is a Friesian horse.

How did it start?

His owner says that Justin would take her crop and draw in the arena sand.

This innate need to draw prompted his owner to try a paintbrush in his mouth and Voila!

Masterpieces!

HOW IT BEGAN…

Here is his owner’s description of how Justin showed her his desire to put objects in his mouth and move them around:

SOME OF HIS WORK!

I like his signature… On the video, it shows his assistant (his owner) painting Justin’s shoe with white paint and then Justin ‘stamping’ his work.  It made me smile.

You can view Justin’s work here.

And, you can purchase works, here!

ANOTHER ONE-OF-A-KIND PIECE FOR MAMA TESS’ SURGERY FUND!

Beach-Inspired beaded and metal choker:  (Copper, sea glass, beads, beach glass buttons, sterling wire…) I purchased this from a street artist in Sausilito ($225).  I loved it and thought it was so much FUN!  Again, however, I simply have it hanging on my wall and have never worn it.  I thought it would be super-cute with a tank top and jeans.  Or dressed up, either way…!  You don’t have to hook it to wear it – it will hang onto your neck.  The hooked width is 5″ across.

SOLD, THANK YOU, DIANNE!

It isn’t a hat band… but I wanted to give you something to see how it clings without being hooked.
