SO I SAW THE BELOW POST AND OF COURSE, I WANTED TO HELP!
I figured we could help pay for colostrum, at least, or plasma if needed. And I also wanted to spread the word. But Willis (the poster) had not left contact information so I held onto printing this on the blog…
THE INITIAL POST:
NEVADA: One of the sanctuary horses (former Virginia Range mare) foaled Friday evening. We think she’s a maiden mare as she didn’t connect with the foal and allowed herself to be “herded off” by her social group. Now she and her group are way off at the far reaches of the sanctuary so it’s not likely we can make a reunion.
Ordinarily this wouldn’t be a problem but the area’s orphan foal project is out of service for major remodeling / upgrading. The foal will be released from Comstock on Monday (9/25.) We either need to locate a nurse mare or locate someone who can at least temporarily care for a foal. (They require feeding about every 2 hours.) Experienced volunteers are available to assist.
If anyone has any practical ideas for this colt, please advise via comments or Messenger.
Thanks!

WILLIS GOT BACK TO ME WITH THIS GREAT NEWS!
Great news. While the reunion with the foal’s dam was a bust, a nearby domestic mare was just having her colt weaned and was depressed. After only a few minutes the two bonded big time. The surrogate mommy is sailing on a cloud. She loves foals. Actually the best possible outcome.
WE ALL LOVE HAPPY ENDINGS!!
