A few weeks ago I told you about the Womens Horseback Retreat I went to at V6 Ranch.
While there, I met 36 of the most lovely women! I was shocked because lots of times there are girl fights when that many woman are together in one room – but we all got along really well!
Anyway, one of the women there, Vicki, told us her story of her traumatic brain injury. She literally was hit by a Van while walking across the street. She had to regain her memory, learn how to feed herself and speak and WALK. I’m telling you, the room went silent as she spoke. S-i-l-e-n-t. Everyone was counting their blessings and feeling foolish for caring about whatever insignificant thing was bothering us.

This is Vicki, 16 years AFTER being hit by the van. Not only can she ride her horse, she SHOWS and makes tail bags for the cause – to help others with traumatic brain injuries.
NO BRAIN INJURY IS GOING TO STOP HER! TAIL BAGS! Well-made, lots of colors, great gifts and only $10! All of that $10 goes back to High Hopes Head Injury program.
Fast forward 16 years, and she is not only riding and showing her horse (Wow!) but she is making tail bags to give back to the center that aided in her remarkable recovery – High Hopes.
Of course, I ended up with 2 tail bags – how can you not?!… None of my horses are show horses anymore… I should wrap their tails regardless, but I don’t. Now I have these lovely tail bags to give me grooming incentive!
If you’d like to read Vicki’s story, and purchase a tail bag (only $10!) to give as a gift or spread around your barn or use as a soft stocking stuffer, CLICK HERE to read her impressive story.
No affiliation… although I would like to help anyone in her position. Could you imagine?

These are heartbreaking photos from San Luis Rey Downs Track. They had to release 500 horses because no trailers were allowed in before they ran out of time. Trailers were eventually let in and all the surviving horses were transferred to Del Mar Fairgrounds. You have probably read that over a dozen horses perished.
