MAMA TESS UPDATE: WE WENT OUTSIDE!

Well, the Queen has her good days and bad days ~ but more good days now.

I do think the new meds are helping her, but I think the dosages made her a big whoosy.

So, we are fixing that.

Trial and Error.  I walk a fine line, daily.  ;

THE GOOD NEWS!

Yesterday, she took a stroll in her gardens!

MT was feeling good and the weather was beautiful.  I knew she wanted O-U-T!

So, we took a walk on the grass.

Silly me forgot to bring the camera, so I left her there while I ran inside the house.

I  knew she wouldn’t go far with all that (very dangerous) grass…

Part of me wanted to tie her so that she couldn’t eat anything while I went to get the camera – but another part of me thought it would be good for her to put her nose in the dirt, to smell the grass and worms, and to be a free horse on the grass, for just a few minutes.

So, that’s what I did.

And she absolutely loved it!

I could feel her spirit rise.  It was like she needed to remember her roots and how the world smelled when rain was coming…

MT was really happy.

I stood on my porch and took this photo. I nearly cried - just to see her out there again... Such a beautiful sight.

We had walked outside... but I forgot my camera. So, I ran inside to get it and left her there. She took advantage and nibbled some very dangerous grass. But, a little, tiny bit of grass and dirt is good for the horsey soul.

When I arrived with my camera and told her that she couldn’t have any more grass, she was a bit upset… but still loved being outside.

AFTER OUR WALK…

After our walk, I asked her to get onto her Theraplate.

As usual, she loves the Theraplate and was happy to comply.

After our walk, she was happy. I think it revitalized her to see the outside and smell the rain coming.

LATER THAT NIGHT…

I ventured to the barn just before my bedtime to take off her boots.

Tess was laying down with Sally the kitty.

MT seemed at peace.  I think it was tiring on her muscles to walk that far and get that excited.  But she was a happy tired.

It was a very good day!

Sally, the kitty, was sitting with MT in her stall. They were happily sleeping.

I woke Tess up to take off her boots. She seemed happy to be resting and very contented. Here you can see that she has the “What?! I was sleeping here!” face… I took off her boots and let her go back to her happy and peaceful slumber.

” a little, tiny bit of grass and dirt is good for the horsey soul.” Yes, I imagine it is! Thanks for a sweet update on MT. She’s a fine spirit in this tired old world.

What a wonderful day for both you and Tess. It must make everything more worthwhile just because of moments like this.

    Hi Dawn,

It was so good to read your blog today about MT. I was thrilled. I know you take one day at a time but keep doing what you’re doing. It seems to be paying off. Love Christine, England.
