I don’t know much about show jumping – except that is scares and thrills me.
However, since my workplace winery (Hope Family Wines, Austin Hope Winery) knows I’m into horses, they sent me to pour at a big jumping event at a local horse park (The Paso Robles Horse Park).
There were 1200 horses entered over the course of the week long show. I saw gorgeous trailers and portable stalls everywhere. Bright, white tents smatttered about with people milling and gathering.
We were pouring near the vendors – and I kept drooling over some GORGEOUS saddles, which they probably didn’t appreciate….
Anyway, I didn’t take enough photos because I was busy. But below is one pic.
We poured during the speed jumping, which I gather is not about form but about how fast you do the round. These jumps were TALL. Some looked to be as tall or taller than I am (5’4″), but I’m not sure because our tent was slightly higher than the footing.
It was thrilling for sure!
I heard that most of the riders were trainers – as this was an OPEN class. Our tent filled up and people were very excited to watch!
