CHINCOTEAGUE Volunteer Fire Company has great photos of the 2019 Chincoteague Pony Swim!

This is one way of holding down the population growth of wild horses/ponies.  I know many object to gathering out and adopting these Chincoteague ponies.  But for me…

For me (I don’t know this adoption process… and I hope it is robust), what matters is that these horses find great homes and are not subject to slaughter, like our American Mustangs.  To me, having these ponies heralded, welcomed, written about, adopted and made famous is much better than what often happens with mustangs.  This annual event type of management seems to be well organized, the horses are not hurt in the roundup and many people gather to adopt.

Nice.
