A Hot Day in the Life…: Finn’s new trick.

It is HOT here!

When it is really hot, I turn on the horsey sprinkler.

Actually, it isn’t a sprinkler, it is a soaker/sprayer nozzle that works as a superduper mister.  It is metal, not plastic and has three heads that spray at once.  A few years ago I purchased this little dandy and it sits – bungied to the fence – in the TriCorners area of the fenceline.

The TriCorners is where three pastures come to meet.  It was a very bad design idea and I’m not sure what I was thinking when I constructed it… but that is where they all gather to, uh, fight.  Yup.  Great design.

Anyway, I thought the sprayer hidden in between the fence boards at the corner would be perfect because the mist would reach horses in all three pastures, depending upon which way the wind was blowing.

–Or, if things got bad, I could turn on the sprayer to break up a fight…   Multi-purpose.

FINN, GOD OF WATER.

As it turned out, Finn is a water baby.  He looooooooves the sprinkler/soaker/mister thing.  Loves it.  Adores it.  Won’t separate himself from it if it is on.  No other horse can get near it.

My whole idea of getting several of the horses some wet, is not happening.  The only one getting wet is Finn.  Sometimes Remi.  But mostly Finn.

THIS WEEK, FINN SHOWED ME A NEW TRICK…

This week, I witnessed Finn using the mister as a water pik.

Now the idea of a horse rinsing, spitting, sucking and flossing with water is funny enough – but Finn made sure I was watching him demo his new game.  He clearly wanted me to see his funny new trick.  I swear Finn looked right at me as if to say:

Finn: “OK, are you ready?  I’m gonna show you my new trick… OK?  Ready?!”

Me:  Its hot.  I’m so hot.  Do it quick.

Finn:  “Get that box up to your face and make sure you record it!  This is my best trick ever!!”

Me (raising my camera):  Ok.  I’m ready.

Finn (putting his mouth on the soaker and sneezywhinnygulping at the same time): Fzzzssstsppprayyyyyfzzttttfsst gulp gulp gulp fuuuuuuwooooooww sploosh!

Me:  OMGOMGOMG!!!!

Finn:  “Toldja.”

MY RECORDING OF FINN’S SPECIAL TRICK

Finn spots me coming, “Hey here she comes! Get her attention! I gotta show her my new trick!”

Hey, are you ready for the best trick I’ve ever created?!

First, I put my face next to the sprayer thing…

Then I move my mouth over sideways and…

Look! I make the water disappear – almost…

Like that! Then you gulpgulpgulp…

And.. RELEASE!

Did you get it? Want me to do it again?!

OK, here goes…

Move the face over and…

That’s how its done!

A BATTLE FOR THE WATER ERUPTS!!!

ROJO GET OUTTA HERE!

HA! My Foe retreats!!

THE VICTOR!

I am KING OF THE WATER! No one dares challenge me!

POOR, SWEET BG… WATCHES ME FROM A FEW FEET AWAY…

BG: Didja have to indulge him? Now he will be completely unlivable. Sigh.

OMG I need to remember never to take a big mouthful of coffee before reading your blog. I have now ruined my second keyboard….I think this THE funniest post ever, hooves down. I had a gelding similarly in love with water but he would just present various portions of his anatomy for equal wetting down – he didn’t try to floss with it!
