Have you seen or worked with cows who have mechanical brushes?
The idea is that happy cows make better milk… and self-scratched cows using mechanical brushes don’t have to use the furniture – as it were.
Cow farmers have realized that there is far less damage to structures if they give the cow these rotating brushes, kinda like a car wash.
Is there a reason this wouldn’t work for equines? Does anyone know?
I think once the horses became acquainted with the sound, they’d probably fight over it!
Any experienced equine auto brushers out there? Please let me know!
In the meantime, here is how the cow mechanical brushes work…
MECHANICAL COW BRUSHES – a video to show how it works…
The whole reason I was thinking about this was because of this video. It tells of a cow rescue establishment in Germany that raised donations to buy a mechanical cow brush – and how all the cows are so happy!
A FEW ARTICLES THAT TALK SERIOUSLY ABOUT HOW THE BRUSHES IMPROVE PRODUCTION!
I found two research articles that speak to happy cows give happy milk!
Here are the two articles: ARTICLE 1 ARTICLE 2
I’ll also cut and paste them here:
HERE IS THE NEXT ARTICLE ON HAPPY COWS WITH MECHANICAL BRUSHES.

Not a good idea for horses… the article says that… but it is a good idea if the brushes were just
nailed to a post. No movement.
It seems like a great idea, but I wonder if manes and tails would get tangled in them?
I don’t know… but that is why I wrote the blog. Hopefully, someone will tell
us or invent it for equines!
We saw these brushes on Dairy Cows on “Landline” and have often thought how great one would be for the horses. Does anyone make them?
