MYSTERY READER!: WHO SENT THE NOMAR PHOTO??!

Friday, December 21st, 2012 | Filed under Musings

As many of you know, my sweet Nomar passed last week…

I posted a photo of him when I wrote my memorial (linked here).

In that memorial post was this photo of Nomar:

This photo of Nomar was posted in his memorial.

LOOK WHAT WAS ON MY DOORSTEP WHEN I RETURNED HOME!

I returned home today to find carnage on my front porch…

Clearly, the UPS guy  had come and set a package there, as he always does.

–Our UPS guy is great and it isn’t his fault that he didn’t know that I now have demon destructor puppies…

This is what I saw:

Uh huh.

Uh oh.

I had no idea what was in the package but I figured it was probably now not in very good condition…

So, I rummaged around in the pile and found – nothing.

It was as if we had been sent an empty box!

?

But, as I searched further, I saw it.

Still in pristine condition was a transferred onto canvas print of the photo of Nomar…  just sitting there, looking up at me from the grass where it had been tossed.

I couldn’t believe it!

Tossed from the wreckage of that box was this lovely canvas transfer, mounted on a frame. Nomar was staring up at me from the grass a few feet away.

I COULDN’T BELIEVE IT!

I couldn’t believe that the contents of the package, this lovely photo on canvas, was intact!

And, I couldn’t believe that a reader had done this for me!

How amazingly sweet and unexpected!

The only problem is that I don’t know who to thank!

I furiously looked through all the bits to find the return address.

All I could find was the name “Tony” and the word, ‘Nevada’.

Tony from Nevada, THANK YOU!

Sending that sweet and lovely gift of Nomar was such a joy to see!

And so fitting because no other dog of ours has had such an elegant photo ~ and the fact that Nomar was so quiet and unsung… well, this is PERFECT.

I have hung it and I give him an “atta boy, Nomar” every time I pass him.

Nomar has been given the regard he deserved.

TONY IN NEVADA?

If you are Tony or you know Tony, please contact me so I can thank you/him properly.

I’m so sorry that my derelict puppies ripped up your name.

I love this gift.  Love it.

Thank you from the core of my heart…

Nomar would be proud.

Big, sweet Nomar... sitting on his pillow, wondering what I might need at that moment.

Tuesday Hodgepodge!

Tuesday, December 18th, 2012 | Filed under Musings

Previously at Christmastime, I’ve searched the web for unique gifts and then told you all about them.

Fun!

This year… not so much.

I tried, but nothing really grabbed me.

…I must have spent an entire evening trolling ETSY – yet I found nothing that seemed blogable.

But, I did find random things that I found interesting…  So, today’s blog is about random things that I found on the web.

First though, here is a photo I received today of Lucky!  She was our November Bucket Fund filly who is being fitted for corrective braces.  I did hear that her braces should be ready in January.  We will keep you posted!

Lucky wishes all of you Merry Christmas! Her braces should be done in January!

STUFF I FOUND WHILE TROLLING THE INTERNET

1)  Have you ever seen a headstall like this?  It is braided kangaroo leather…

2)  I had never seen a hand-painted headstall… it kinda reminded me of the purses we used to buy at Harvest Festivals as a kid…

HORSES AS MODELS…

This cracked me up.  What I found amusing were the horses as models!  I got hooked on finding these equinemodel images and wondered what the horses thought of it all.

If you want to see for yourselves, go to ETSY.COM and search on ‘rhythm beads’.  You will find all of these images and products.

I love the idea of horses as jewelry models!

I thought these were very different.. the photography on the white horse is very dramatic

3)  This lady can stamp anything onto copper, brass and nickel – and the items are inexpensive!  I thought this was a great idea for headstall tags or dog tags… just about anything!

Bridle tags, dog tags... you name it, she can stamp it!

4)  I didn’t even know equine bling existed!  Swag for your horse!

6) Everyone is wearing wrap bracelets now…  These ladies had a huge and unusual selections.  They aren’t tooo expensive, can ship inexpensively and probably still easily shippable for Xmas.  If you click on the image, it will take you to their pages.

7)  A while ago I wrote about Western artist Deborah Kunic who painted awesome mugs… Well, a reader contacted her and asked if Deborah could paint mugs with images of her horses (and dog and cat) on them…

Deborah did and the reader was so excited, she sent me pics!  I love that!

Below is a snippet from Kunic’s website and then the mugs she made for the reader who is thrilled!
