The exuberance and utter joy of a young donkey!

Princess Buttercup Pebbles LOVES to go into the huge field.  Not just a little bit… but A LOT.

I think it probably stems from being born wild (she is a BLM donkey who was adopted as a foal and then thrown away at a meat auction once the adopter received the $1000 from the government).

After she her herd was caught, she was then held in the BLM facility somewhere – most likely separated from her family.  Then she was adopted and who knows what happened…  I do know that she was very sick when I got her (not unusual when donkeys are in a kill pen).  And, she had a halter grown onto her face (she is tough to catch).  Pretty much, I think her life sucked before she was rescued from the kill pen and I subsequently found her – said lightly.

This girl likes to be free – really free!

PHOTO JOURNAL

Here she is, anticipating that I’m going to open her gate to the large field.

There she goes running into the huge pasture.

I missed the buck but she did a few short bucks and then continued to run!

Here she settles into the awkward donkey run…

She stops a ways away and realizes that she’s alone…

So she comes back, ears up!

“I thought you were coming to play, too?” Look how filled out she is and how her coat is normal now. That bout of lung worms was really awful, but she’s good now!

Here she is, pushing Ethel Merdonk into the field. Ethel doesn’t love it as much as Pebbles does.

Young Princess Buttercup Pebbles often irritates the older Ethel Merdonk. Here she is, ears and nose down, trying to intimidate Ethel into play.

This is Mo, watching the spectacle of the little girl donkey having fun!  You can see the dust puffs behind her as she runs off kicking and bucking.

NEW BUTTON. DIFFERENT FUND. LET’S DO THIS!

FUND TOTAL AS OF TODAY:  $797

I’m no genius. Just an average girl who has a passion to save horses in need. This is my idea going forward. If we have a constant fund going daily… we will have funds to give to those on the ground who are saving these horses in real time at the killing auctions.

Horse and Man Foundation, Inc has a new Fund button. KEEP THEM OFF THE TRUCK FUND. This fund will go on all day, all the time. It will always be here. If you want to save a horse from slaughter, you know we will do that here.

All donations are 100% tax deductible!

Three deserving equine charities to consider for GIVING TUESDAY.

Every year, I like to highlight a few equine 501c3 charities.  True non-profits.  People who do it because they are compelled to help horses.  It is a passion.

This year, I’ve chosen Montgomery Creek Ranch, Wild Horse Connection and our own KEEP THEM OFF OF THE TRUCK Bucket Fund.

Montgomery Creek Ranch

Montgomery Creek Ranch keeps a low profile, but they do GREAT work for the wild horse.   What I love about them is that they save wild horses, give them an incredible landscape to thrive in the wild, bring the horses in for annual care –  and they also find a few horses each year who seem like they’d like to be with people.  Those horses are gently and slowly trained to be adopted into forever homes.  MCR does a great job and rarely asks for donations.

This year, they are asking for donations…  Montgomery Creek Ranch has a match sponsor offering to double any donations!   This is a great opportunity to double your donation for non-profit with excellent integrity.

WILD HORSE CONNECTION

Wild Horse Connection is totally volunteer run and they are outstanding in mustang welfare and rescue.  They work with the Tactical Large Animal Rescue and bring in sick and injured wild horses from foals to stallions.  Their dedication is above and beyond.  But they struggle… and although the Horse and Man Foundation has helped them over the years to purchase equipment and pay medical costs on injured horses – this year has been particularly rough for donations.

THE “KEEP THEM OFF THE TRUCK” FUND.

This month, I was so sickened by the amount of horses shipping straight to slaughter that I just couldn’t stand it anymore and had to develop a 24/7 fund to help.  People are on the ground, attending these auctions, trying to save lives by finding homes and bail money, vets, quarantine, medications… this happens every week somewhere.  I just couldn’t stand not having the money at the ready when rescues called me desperately for funds.

So, I have organized, through our Horse and Man Foundation, Inc (a 501c3 Non-Profit), a new fund that is constant and ongoing.  You can donate at any time and those funds will be held for the next emergency rescue of horses in the slaughter pipeline.

Wouldn’t it be great to buy an entire truckload of deserving equines  (like the donkeys pictured… ) and give them their lives back?!   Wouldn’t it be so rewarding to prove to them that life can be safe and lovely?!  Wouldn’t it be great to give them back their hope and dignity…

Here is a link to donate to the KEEP THEM OFF THE TRUCK fund.  All donations are 100% tax-deductible.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU, ALL!
