TJ and SWEETIE were ADOPTED!! *January Keep Them Off The Truck Fund!

TJ and Sweetie were adopted!!

Now, you are probably asking yourselves, “Who are TJ and Sweetie”?.

You all saved them!

Yup.  During my year in middle earth (of which I am just now emerging), I continued to use your donations in the Keep Them off the Truck Fund to rescue dire-need horses in the slaughter pipeline.

In January, we donated to save TJ and Sweetie, who were both in the Bowie kill pen in Texas.

TJ’S STORY

TJ is 5-6 year-old TB gelding who had a horrible sore on his leg.  This is probably what got him into the Kill pen.  All Seated in a Barn was at the meat auction and asked if we had funds to help TJ.  I said YES.

TJ was bandaged  (for several months, it just wouldn’t heal properly) and then last week, he was adopted!

Here are some photos!

TJ at the auction.  You can see his swollen left front leg.

This isn’t a video… it is a still photo from a video of TJ as he was healing.

Here he is – all healed!

Here he is, on his way to his new home! TJ was adopted as a companion horse!

Our donation receipt for TJ. Thank you, everyone!

SWEETIE’S STORY!

Sweetie was/is a beautiful, young (4-5 years-old) skinny and neglected paint mare who had a snotty nose.  She looked miserable and very, very sad.

ASAIB asked if we could also help with Sweetie and I said YES.  Luckily, Sweetie only needed antibiotics, attention and groceries.

Sweetie was also just adopted and we have pics!

Miserable at the auction with a snotty nose.

Receiving treatment and already looking better.

Rescued and after a bath… she’s looking happier!

And now home with her new owner!!

THANK YOU, EVERYONE!  A JOB WELL DONE!

Today was Farrier Day!

Today, the farrier came really early (to avoid the heat).  I was not really awake.  And, I forgot to take all the photos I usually take.   It seemed that as soon as the farrier was done, I remembered that I needed an action photo.  So, not too many action photos today!

HERE WE GO!

Missy Miss was first… and I forgot to take a pic. Next to her is Mo’s topline. I see Norma strolling in the background and Dalton, behind Norma, looking at me.

Finn, being Finn.

Princess Buttercup Pebbles in front. Ethel Merdonk behind. Both are in their new paddock! (I created a new paddock which is smaller, so I can work more closely with Pebbles. She just does not want to be haltered or touched, except she does like head rubs.)

Dominic. The dog belongs to the farrier.

Rocky Balboa pony

Mo, full of burrs.

And finally, Dalton. We are going to work on trailer loading today. Dalton is trail trained, but still refuses to trailer alone. Who knows what happened to him when he was originally traveled from South Dakota to CA…
