In June, these poor, unfortunate horses, Julia and Sundancer, were in the kill pen.
Luckily for them, LIFESAVERS was at the auction and asked for donations to save them.
And, lucky for us, we got word and were able to contribute to their rescue!
This is tiny, beautiful Julia. She is a pony and she had grossly overgrown feet.
This is old and neglected Sundancer, who had no hope while he sat at the auction.
WE STEPPED UP AND ADDED TO THE RESCUE FUND!

WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT JULIA AND SUNDANCER!
We received an update from Lifesavers Wild Horse Rescue. Here is what they said:
Dear Horse and Man Foundation,
Thanks to your compassionate support, Julia and Sundancer are now safely with us at the ranch.
They were picked up on 6/13/25 and are settling into their 21-30 day quarantine period, where we’ll monitor them closely and begin the slow process of rehabilitation. Both arrived in worse condition than expected.
Julia, estimated to be 35 years old, has severely overgrown hooves – some of the worst we’ve seen. She already has an appointment on the 26th with a specialist equine podiatrist at Apple Valley Equine Hospital. She will be sedated and X-rayed to ensure we address the damage safely.
Before her trim… Her body condition looks pretty good for an older lady… you can clearly see the feet and fly bites on her face.

Sundancer, previously believed to be 15, is actually in his 20s with significant weight loss and worn-down teeth. We’ll begin gently refeeding him and, once he’s strong enough, schedule gelding and dental care.
He is very thin and his feet are also long. But at least he doesn’t look so depressed upon arriving to safety.
Your generosity made this rescue happen. You helped get them off that property, into safety, and on the road to recovery. We truly couldn’t have done this without you.

OUR MOST RECENT UPDATE!
Here you can see that Julia has had her feet trimmed. What a lovely older gal! And she looks incredible for 35!!!
Sundancer has a long way to go … but he has his spark back.
