THERE ARE NO WORDS FOR THIS ONE… HE (ALLEGEDLY) CUT OUT HER GENITALS BECAUSE SHE WOULDN’T BREED…But, she is a SURVIVOR! MEET YANAHA, OUR OCTOBER BUCKET FUND MARE.

THERE ARE NO WORDS.

THIS IS SO DISGUSTING, I CAN BARELY CONTAIN MYSELF.  He cut out her VAGINA.

SHE IS ALIVE.  SHE IS HEALING.  But… she needs help.  A LOT of help.

I do not know what the Rockport County (Texas) Sheriff is going to do about this yet.

YANAHA’S STORY

She sat in an open field for three and a half weeks, with her vagina cut out, before anyone did anything.

A neighbor took the mare to a vet who notified the Sheriff  (there is a longer story here but not necessary today…).

The Sheriff asked Rockport Horse Rescue  (FB linked here) to pick her up and see if she could be healed.

And, she’s healing.  However, this is traumatic, and there are many issues, to say the least.

Not only was her vagina removed, but he stabbed her and cut her colon as well – which miraculously healed during the 3.5 weeks she was laying in a field.

The mare can urinate but has to have her anus cleaned out for now.  The 6″ gaping hole is now 3″.  She eats and whinnys.  She can walk around but she is lame on her right rear.  She has been named, Yanaha – meaning “Brave”.

The bad news (if there could me MORE bad news), her right rear leg cannot bear weight.  She needs a Lay down MRI to diagnose what is wrong.  Right now, the only lay-down MRI is 6 hours away.  The thinking is that her leg was damaged by the knife, damaged by laying in a field for so long, soft tissue?, nerve?…  The field Xrays showed nothing wrong with her leg.   Only an MRI will show what is causing the problem.

(Does anyone know of a way to get her a lay-down MRI close to Corpus Christi, TX?… Is there any informed input here?  Does any facility use slings?   The fear with a standing MRI is that she will get dopey, put weight on her bad leg and then collapse.)

It takes the volunteers at Rockport Horse Rescue 6 hours a day to tend to Yanaha’s needs.  They keep fighting for her and want this MRI fast so her leg doesn’t deteriorate further.   Yanaha’s spirit is very strong.  Her eyes are bright, she is perky and nickers for her food.

Can you even imagine?

She can stand, but no one will show pictures of her wounds - they are that graphic.

She can stand and walk around, but no one will show pictures of her wounds – they are that graphic.  Her right rear leg is the problem.

HERE ARE THE NEWS STORIES AND VIDEO.  (Nothing graphic – they do not show the wounds.)

A horse is one of the most beautiful creations ever. To watch one run free or in fence is amazing!

This man is an insult to the human race, He should be put in prison for the rest of his life. To do such harm purposely to an animal is beyond my understanding! I’m sorry but if he could do this to an animal and then just leave her there to die a slow painful death, I have no sympathy for him.

Put him in prison! He does not deserve a second chance to do something like this again nor the chance to mutilate a human! Disgusts me to no end. I hope Karma bites him and bites him bad.

I just called the Sheriff’s Department and they said the case was referred to the DA’s Office. The DA’s Office phone number is 361-364-9390.

And yes, New Bolten is the best and should offer some recommendations.

Arturo Aleman is the owner and perpetrator of this heinous act. A prominent business man running a trucking company in Gregory Texas. This man allegedly entered the gregory police department some years back and beat the city sheriff down while he was sitting down. High on something, Mr. Aleman spread enough fear so the officer never filed charges. Now you know who you are dealing with. Yanaha will have her justice.

You know more than I do… technically. Yes, they are working out the best way to understand the issue with her back leg. The knife hit something…
MOnday is an ultrasound and from there they decide on the MRI. The issue is that her wound tends to split when she travels so the 4.5 hour trip to A&M
would be risky. However, they do have to figure out what is going on… tendon, ligament, nerve? As far as up the leg? I don’t know. But those on the ground
do… and I sure appreciate you taking the time to read this and to give your information. THANK YOU for caring!

What an awful story. To add some information requested in the facebook post, a standing MRI is not an option if she will cannot stand rock still for extended period of times. The MRI at Texas A&M is one of the most detailed magnets and is done under general anesthesia. However you can only see a short way up the leg of a horse due to size limitations. If she has nerve damage in the upper limb or back, a MRI will not help. It can only image the soft tissue from the hock down.

Several equine facilities have slings. At Brazos Valley Equine Hospital in Navasota we have two that we use frequently. If the sling is to help with the MRI, it is not an option as the metal in the sling will interfere with the image.

It would definitely be worth asking the MRI office to donate their services to aid this horse.

This is absolutely horrible!! beyond words. This man should never see the outside of a jail cell again. I hope that something can be done for the mare. I truly do, but I don’t want her to suffer. The torture and pain this poor thing has been through. Unspeakable!! And if we lived in a world where people could get the same treatment as they so cruelly dish out this person deserves it!!

  9. Rose Phillips

What is wrong with that man to do such a horrible thing to a sweet animal? I hope he never sees the light of day and lives the rest of his life in misery! Prayers for healing for that sweet mare.

At this point that’s all I know. There are several news reports on what has happened and is currently happening. Last I heard is there was a article in the Herald news paper. Not for sure. And from what ive heard they have a guy in custody (again I do not know for sure). You might be able to find more news info on the Corpus Christi news pages. Just didn’t wanna get the counties messed up. lol as I am a local in Rockport. We have enough bad rap with so many things didn’t want another one. And I hope that we can find the help for Yahana. She is a fighter and she deserves to have that chance. That’s the main goal is to help her.

Aha! I was told it was the Aransas County Sheriff. Hmmm. OK, since you are local, keep your ear to the ground
and help us if I make mistakes. I know the Rockport Horse Rescue is overwhelmed and information comes slowly due
to her lack of time. So Thank you and let us know what the media is doing to forward this case! Thank you!

  12. Kitty

Also there is no Rockport County. Rockport Horse rescue is located in Aransas County in Rockport Texas. I believe this happened in Gregory Texas not sure if that’s San Patricio County or Nueses County.

  13. Kitty

The other county sherrif may have called our sherrif so he called the rescue. I do not know exactly who contacted who or how the rescue ended up getting her. But I do know from all reports this happened in another county from us and Rockport horse rescue was asked to take her. They did and they are amazing people. They will do everything they can to save her.

  14. dawndi Post author

Hi Kitty: Please keep us informed because I was told by the Rescue that the Rockport County Sheriff picked up
the horse and called the Rescue to take her. Yes, the Rockport Horse Rescue is in a different County than the Sheriff
but I was definitely told that the Rockport Sheriff was the one in charge of Yahaha. If you can get a definite on that, I
will re-question Rockport Horse Rescue. But they did tell me that the Rockport Sheriff called her initially.

  15. t thomas

This man needs to be in PRISON. Then he can see how it feels to not WANT to breed.

  16. KITTY

I just want to say that the horse is not from our county (Rockport). She was found in another county and asked by our local horse rescue to take her in. Just wanted to clear that up. And all news reports say they have a poss. suspect and its under investiagation.

  17. Jody Brittain

NOW I am REALLY Blubbering! The October Bucket fund horse! Oh very very sad!!!! Heart breaking, and worthless piece of human being to do what they did to that horse!!!!!! Angry and heart breaking tears.

Then I read this feel good story, and how awesome this was. I am on the other side of the spectrum with the tears now! Way to go! I applaud her tremendously!

  18. Janet

My first thought is that maybe New Bolten Equine Center in Kennett Square, PA could give advise or recommendations as to sling and MRI help located in TX since they are so well known. They are the place that Barbaro went to after his horrific Preakness accident. They are an amazing facility and would have info on resources and locations I bet. Just a thought.

    Janet
