I have great updates for all of these babies!
FIRST: GOLIATH!
Goliath was an additional baby we added to the Emergency call. His story is here. Goliath was born too large with contracted tendons. He could not stand to nurse. The LRTC team brought him in, gave him plasma, antibiotics, meds for his tendons and he wore splints until his ankles healed properly.
Then the team created a harness to help him stand and learn how to maneuver. His progress is amazing!

A foal after my own heart… they tell me that Goliath loves trees and licks them every morning.

Goliath is 1 week old next to this full sized mini horse. Goliath is massive!
NEXT: SINCLAIR
Sinclair was our original April Bucket Fund baby. She was found on the range, failing because his mother had no milk. She was also roughed up in a scuffle between horses. Sinclair was in very bad shape. You can read her original story here.

3) OSCAR
Oscar was found separated from his herd – and running with the wrong herd. Poor Oscar was only 24 hours old, without a mother. He was falling behind and failing. The LRTC team picked him up, gave him plasma, meds, milk… (They first tried to reunite him with his dam, but she was no longer interested… and Oscar was in very poor shape – he needed to be helped.)
They named him “Oscar” because he is very attached to a green garbage bin. He stands next to it and demands to be bottle fed next to the bin.
Oscar was with the wrong herd and was failing.

It has been a week and Oscar is doing well… he has become best friends with Sinclair.

WE ALSO HELPED 3 OTHER FOALS…
Our funds have also helped three other foals who were attacked by dogs. The LRTC Team was very grateful to have access to our funds because it allowed them to make critical decisions based on the foals’ needs, not budget.
Sadly, all three were not viable. One fought for three days, but eventually crashed due to meningitis. The other two were evaluated, treated and brought to the hospital – but their wounds were too severe and sepsis infection set in.
THE LRTC ALL VOLUNTEER TEAM WORKS TIRELESSLY. THEY SO APPRECIATE THIS FUNDING WHICH ALLOWS THEM TO ADMINISTER WHAT THESE FOALS NEED, NOT WHAT IS BUDGETED. THANK YOU THANK YOU.

Hi Linda! I thought so, too… and asked. Evidently, he has learned this from another grown horse whom he watches and admires greatly.
Goliath is licking trees to try to meet nutritional defincies, maybe minerals or something else.
