Last June, our Bucket Fund horse was Betsy Rose. You can read her initial story here.
Here are some intake pics from a year ago… BHFER rescued her.

Poor Betsy Rose was so malnourished, she couldn’t stand. If BHFER hadn’t arrived when they did, she would have passed for sure.

Here she is o n Day 1 of her Rescue at BHFER.

This was the first vet who administered to Betsy Rose. The chances were slim that this filly would make it…
A YEAR LATER…
A year later and BHFER had a special Birthday Party for Betsy Rose who did, indeed, make it! There were many ups and downs, but a year later, this girl is the Queen of the Barn at BHFER!
The below letter came into my email box today…

Yes. There are issues. I am not the expert on this but I know Theresa at BHFER can tell you all the details.
I’m sorry to have to point this out but a year later and this baby is STILL waaaay underweight. Is there another health issue going on? (Yes — I have rehabilitated starvation cases and cared for really super old horses and educated law enforcement on body scoring and better-than-standard-of-care for horses and dogs and have been active in equine and canine rescue for over 30 years so yes I do know what I am talking about here.)
