UGH. HUMAN LEFT FILLY FROZEN TO THE GROUND, BARELY ALIVE… MEET JANUARY BUCKET FUND YEARLING: ELSA. Let’s warm her, shall we?!

If she wasn’t alive and fighting for her life with the help of loving rescuers from Dust Devil Ranch Sanctuary, I don’t think I would have had to fortitude to bring this story.

Human owner left this yearling appy filly frozen to the ground where she fell from starvation.

So disgusting.

Her helpless dam, also a 1 on the Henneke scale, stood nearby, fretting.

Makes you just want to wring someone’s neck… or better yet… HELP THEM!

Dust Devil Ranch Sanctuary in Utah saved the pair and has named them ‘Elsa and Anna (dam)’ from the characters in the movie, Frozen.  They are working around the clock to save them.

Let’s help them help her.

Let's help her.

Let’s help her.  She is alive and trying at Dust Devil Ranch Sanctuary in Utah.

Here workers are trying to get her into a stall for recovery. Note Elsa’s backbone…
Elsa and her mother, Anna, were named by the Rescue after two characters from the movie, Frozen.

It takes a village.

Finally situated. The helpers moved bales around her to help support her, then covered her in blankets. They have a spacial heater in with her as well as 24/7 attendance.

She is alive and trying…

This is the eye that was lying face down in the mud/ice. It has been cleaned and treated.

It takes a few people to hold her up to drink. But, she WANTS to drink. She will paw and motion towards her bucket when she wants to quench her thirst. She is a smart filly.

This is Mom, Anna. Under that fuzz and guck, is a #1 on the Henneke scale.

She is very trusting, even after her ordeal.

Her makeshift sling. Although Elsa can stand on her own, she doesn’t have the strength to get up by herself. This is a very long process and the degree of damage isn’t yet known.

There is no mention of the perpetrators of this crime – can you get an update on that? This is totally unacceptable – and someone should get the book thrown at them while the key is thrown away.

Sickening…and heartbreaking. I’m so thankful these animals got the help they needed and hope it’s not too late for Elsa. There needs to be much stricter consequences for people who do this kind of thing..usually it’s a slap on the wrist and they go on to do it again. I’ll be sending in a donation for these poor horses.

These stories break my heart and make me angry. There are so many of them that I sometimes feel overwhelmed but then I think of the wonderful people that rescue and work to save these animals and I remember that we have to do what we can for the ones that we can help. We can’t give up because the problem is overwhelming and feels unsolvable. I’ll pray for these two for sure and I’ll scrape together a donation this month as well. I just do not and can not understand some people. I live in a state that has hay banks for farmers struggling to feed there livestock and we still have starving horses. Thank you Dawn for doing what you do and thank you to all the wonderful people that work to save these animals and hats off to all of you who give!

This type of treatment of animals hurts my heart so deeply. I am so thankful that they were found in time and that you have come to their aid. Prayers for Elsa and Anna’s healing and progress. <3 <3 <3

I know each rescue has it’s own way of doing things but have they been in contact with Theresa at Beauty’s Haven? Our Betsy Rose was in as bad a condition if not worse as you know. You all helped her out with the Bucket List. She is doing really great and I pray for this little one too.
